We have one who tries to put ultimate edition on the single disc edition of the James Bond movies. He says that we should use that because it's printed on the DVD. which by the way is probably the same DVD as they have in the Ultimate edition. Cheap marketing. So where do we get the edition from? The cover or what's printed on the DVD?

And what edition should we use for the ultimate edition? We can't use Ultimate edition, because then we can't distinguish between the single disc edition (Who is now Ultimate edition), and the ultimate edition (?????).

Any thoughts?

"Ultimate Edition" is a non-standard description.  The rules say, if you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box.  The 'disc' is not the DVD box.

I would vote against it as, it doesn't show any edition on the DVD case as far as I can tell. It maybe the same disc as was put in the Ultimate Edition boxsets, but it's not the same edition as the second discs are not included with this edition.

Just because the studios try to cut corners doesn't mean we have to.  The single disk version is not the Ultimate edition.

that was me and i have changed all 20 titles to 1 disc . and no mention on ultimate edit.

however the only ones i got a problem with was the tree titles someone else had made the 17 others got trough with ultimate edit so there is clearly someone at invelos who agreed with me. But I yield and have renamed all to simply 1 Disc (in the edition field)

BDvdjon,

If the box cover doesn't show "1 Disc" on it anywhere, it is STILL wrong to included it in the Edition Field.

I don't have any of the affected titles in my database, but if I saw "1 Disc" in the edition field when there are no such words on the box cover, I would definitely vote NO to a contribution that included that text.

Jon:

From what I have read this is going to be a problematic, and I suggest you keep your changes locally. The Ultimate Edition all of which were 2 Disc titles and released ONLY in Boxset form were entered by Disc ID as the individual cases had no UPC #. It sounds like they took the feature disc (with same disc ID) and repackaged it for individual title sale. The Boxsets were reeased at least 6 months PRIOR to the singl;e titles, therefore, if I am correct the exiting James Bond UE data would be absolutely correct, and your data would have to be a local issue ONLY per the Rules.

If you can provide title data on any one of them including your Disc ID, I will check it against my Boxset data and see if my theory is correct.

Wait a minute though, you have a UPC #, and mine doesn't so you might be fine, I don't think the Disc ID would cause a conflict in the system as long as you were entering via UPC.

entered via upc/barcode they do not conflict with 2 disc releases i used the 2 disc releses as base for my profiles but ofcourse changed to match my release.

in 17 cases invelos have APPROVED( ) my profiles WITH Ultimate edition as edition and 1 Disc after the movie title.

the problem started when pompel9 started to wote no on 3 that someone else had put in the base with prettymuch FUBAR( ) info on srp release date prices and features.

However i recognize that Pompel9 is correct in stating that it does not say ultimate edition on the front cover.( it says so on the disc ) and i have changed it to 1 disc in edition and removed ultimate edition in respect of the rules and the user pompel 9. all 20 films are in the pending contribution in correct state.

as for checking the relese do a title search on Dr. No 1 Disc. there u can see what i have done (it still says ultimate but im changing that as formerly stated).easyest if u change country to norway

these releases are 100% legitimate and has a rightful place in the database.

And one could argue that they could be called "james bond 1 disc" i would welcome input on this particular issue. 1 Disc is more than adequate for me. I know they are ultimate u see

Jon:

Point blank you do not own the Ultimate Edition. So to use it is not correct and pompel was correct in voting NO and you should correct the others....or someone should, they are not correct as has been noted previously. Relative to the 1-Disc idea, I will offer know input, I glanced at one today and there was nothing that reached out and struck me as suitable for edition use...but beyond that, I have no other comment.

Skip I would wish to point your interrest to the first post i made here and make a point of my third where I wery clearly say that this allready is done out of respect for rules and the user Pompel 9.

Why claim that i should change them when i clearly have stated that I allready have done so. thay arent approved yet thats all.
