| Posted: | | | | Well here's an interesting little problem. What should we put in the Title field for the movie 'Batman'? There is no title on the front cover of the DVD? | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Surely in the absense of a title we can defer to the credit block? After all, it is mentioned in the rules as the ultimate determiner with regards to possessives. If you can't see the title, how do you know if there is a poessessive or not? Okay, maybe that's weak but you get the idea. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

| Posted: | | | | I guess it could be argued that the word 'Batman' is the textual representation of the symbol on the front cover. Seriously though, while it is not covered by the rules, I would take it from the back of the case. The back of the case has the 'banner' title as well as the 'credit block' title. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Could you please quote the EAN of this DVD, because I'm a bit confused; my R2 copy has BATMAN in large friendly letters on the front. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | Just take it from the back of the case. There, thank goodness we wrapped this up within 1 page of discussion. We can happily close this thread now since we are all agreed. | | | Paul |

Seriously though, while it is not covered by the rules.... This is the only point that I was trying to make. Where we decide to take the title from is actually irrelevant. It can't be entered by following the Rules. A Rule change has been made, without thought to the possibility that some DVDs may not have a title on the front cover. Although it is certainly possible, I do not think I have ever seen a movie that does not have the title somewhere in the film. | | | Hal |

According to the label on the LP, the "white album" is titled "The Beatles". | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Although it is certainly possible, I do not think I have ever seen a movie that does not have the title somewhere in the film. And this was the same with the old rule, it had been written without taking account of DVDs that had one title on the cover and a totally different one in the credits. For all those films I own people did actually scrape up some common sense and used the cover title and not the pointless to use film credits title. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Lithurge |
