| Posted: | | | | I have a dvd that has not been submitted yet. It arrived from the store today and I was going to go ahead and enter the information but am a bit hung up on the cast\crew
the cast is simpler as its just voice over work and everyone is just listed alphabetically under one heading voice talent
the crew is a bit more complicated as the production by credit is to a studio. There are credits to animation and animation support. Some of which is also to a studio/company. And most of the credits I dont see a match up to in the current groupings, ie there is an audio production credit, Casting and VO direction
additionally it seems all the cast and crew is not in the database either.
I have a text file typed up that is basically the exact credits (only real difference is its not centered) if it would help if i post that. The thing is this dvd is not exactly a movie, but rather an animated comic production.
additionally for the features it lists 2 version (basically one has voice bubbles the other doesnt, which is sort of like subtitles but it doesn't contain any proper subtitles)
Any help on how to submit it would be great. I got everything but cast and crew done. The genre might use some tweaking (would like to add comic or something along those lines) as might the features.
Would it be best to submit it with no cast\crew first so people can see the profile and then make the other changes? I was gonna try to do the complete (as i can get it) profile in one contribute

I think it's better to use that text instead leaving cast/crew blank. It should be accepted, and as it is a new contribution, it's far better for other users to have a complete profile. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | I am going to stand down on this one, though I have some thoughts. However, I want to caution you, I understand Yves' comments and I don't wih to attack him, BUT his statement is wrong, Sorry Yves. He is correct IF you comply with the Rules.
If you don't then the data is meaningless, contrary to what my friend seems to indicate. Which seems to be that something is better than nothing.

| Posted: | | | | The text file I made from watching the credits just so i didn't need to load the dvd again after figuring out how to properly credit them. Below is basically the credits, the only change to this and the actual file is a removed all the voice actors names, as noted. But this is what scrolls up at the end of the film:
An Animated Comics Presentation By ------------------------- Eagle One Media
Directed by ------------------------- Eric Reichert and Joseph Whiteaker
Production by ------------------------- Studio 414
Art Direction ------------------------- Joseph Whiteaker
Animation ------------------------- Joseph Whiteaker Dragon Visual
Animation Support ------------------------- Juan Gomez Jonathan Mosoff Paula Hurley-Whiteaker
Audio Production by ------------------------- Echo Base Audio Labs Joseph Whiteaker David A. Rodriguez
Casting and VO Direction ------------------------- David A. Rodriguez
Voice Talent ------------------------- (cast here removed to save space)
As you can see these roles are different than the available ones in dvd profiler, though there are probably equivelant roles, the question is, what are those roles.

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately, based on that list, it looks like the only crew you are going to be able to enter are:
Director: Eric Reichert Director: Joseph Whiteaker Art Director: Joseph Whiteaker

| Posted: | | | | Psst, Skip. Please move the phrase "(One of the Production Studio slots)" from 'Directed by' to 'Production by'. While I know what you meant, the user might get a bit confused. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Ok, after i posted that i started entering the voice actors. Basically, I had the directors and art directors in as you guys stated. And used Studio 414 as the production studio. So i guess thats the best it will get for now.
suprised there is no casting credit in dvd profiler though as unless im sorely mistaken that credit is always listed.
thanks for the help.

-Agrare I don't know about 'sorely', but you are mistaken. There has never been a casting credit in profiler. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I don't know about 'sorely', but you are mistaken. There has never been a casting credit in profiler. I think he meant always listed in film credits. Although I would also suggest this is not always the case. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Lithurge |

I think he meant always listed in film credits. Although I would also suggest this is not always the case. That is what i meant. I don't really pay much attention to credits usually unless I want to see who a particular person was played by because I thought I recognized them from elsewhere. It must just be the credits I do happen to pay attention to I recall seeing 'casting by'. Ultimately I guess I can see casting credit as not being a big deal to have as part of a profiler because people probably dont generally go 'oh, that was a great movie, i wonder what other movies so and so did the casting for' -Agrare |

-Agrare You certainly see them on most blockbuster films in the opening credits section, but I do have a lot of films where I don't see the credit. I do fall into you're category of not thinking I want to find out what other films they've done the casting for, but I have seen people request this credit before, so it may be of use to some. In a one off way it would be interesting to see if the casting person actually does impact the quality of the films, no idea if there has ever been a study. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Don't know of any systematic study, but there certainly are plenty of film reviews out there stating that actor X was terribly miscast in film Y. |

But I wonder how much influence the casting director had over what the director wanted in some cases? I'm always reading interviews that talk about director x really wanted actor y etc... I think you also have to take personal preference into account sometimes, for example I really don't like Tom Hanks. Can't really explain it rationally just don't like him, so I'm put off pretty much any film he's in regardless. (And yes I do realise that I may be missing out on some really good films because of it, but there you go ) | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |
