Or just a technical slip??

I loved my DVD PRofiler. Recommended it to my friends and even paid for the pro version.
Never had a reason to come to the forums.

So when my hard drive crashed and I had to get a new copy, I find the company changed and no longer supported the pro version.  In fact have no records of my exsistance or my product key.
Wants me to buy the new pro version, again.

New company lose all the old records??
Nice to know.

Somthing tells me that if I loose my Vista/office license keys Microsoft won't know who I am and I'll have to buy a new version. Sure it is nice if the company you buy from is able to find the information and save you a second purchase, but the responsibility to keep a backup is yours alone.

It's a $30 license - now try to think how much is left when the programmer needs to be paid, servers need to be kept running, bandwidth have to be paid (for years) etc. It can't be a high margin on a license, so spending much more than 5 minutes on a single customer couldeasily mean it's a customer that actually cost money to have.

Lars

As stated

1) the company is owned by the original code writer who has all the old records if you bother to ask
2) the uprgade to a new key is free

Damn sight better than most companies out there!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you lose all your registration info?

You say you had a paid license for the old version. If you can remember the user name and password you used for that version, you might be able to recuperate your license info for the old version here.

You can then use that license key to get a new one for free for DVDP 3.0 (check out the link lyonsden5 provided).

If you're unable to recover your license key for the 2.4/2.5 version, you'll have to contact Ken or Gerri at Invelos and see if they can help you out.
