If the source is valid, recontribute with an extended note. If not, please do not contribute the data that comes from an invalid source, such as a third party database." This kind of text appear to my recents contributions and of course they are declined. What I tried to do was making Finnish locality, new EAN-code, coverascans and Finnish overview. Not succeeded Always declined and remarks for invalid source of data. Why? I don't understand! Always thinking that DVD-profiler is excellent way to keep record of your dvd-collections and share profile those dvd's that aren't yet in database. So why contribute if they are always judged invalid by "specialists"? I think from now one I will ever contribute anything just leeching others... |

There are so many declined contributions. The lasts are Finnish locality for Tremors (Väristyksiä) notes: New finnish locality and coverscans and The Desperate Trail(Lain pitkä käsivarsi). notes: New Finnish locality, Ean-code & coverscans. Source from covers. Today I contribute New profile for Onedin Line : 1st season (Merilinja : 1. kausi 4dvd-boxset) notes: Finnish profile and locality for Merilinja (Onedin Line) 1st season 4dvd-boxset.Cast &crew for footage endcredit.Coverimagescans from boxset cover. and I have a fear that it will suffer same destiny... declined for invalid source of data. Thanks in advance, I'm so eager to contribute profiles, but there's no point if those are profiles are invalid. | | | Last edited: by Travel-log |

The movie in question is Tremors 1 not 3. If I remember correct, all I new things in profile were EAN-code, locality and coverscan. Nothing else. |

"Cast &crew for footage endcredit" That is fine, IF you _really_ took that information from endcredits. If you copied it from an another Invelos profile, you should state that. |

(sigh) Yes I took them from dvd endcredits. I play dvd on Windows Mediaplayer and took information from it. Now, what this suspicion concerning contributions?? Should I wrote a book called "How I did My Contribution and get it released"?? Looks like it. Some help would be appreciated. | | | Last edited: by Travel-log |

Try re-submitting the contribution and state how you got the cast & crew (watched with Windows Media Player). Got video format with program xyz Got audio information using program abc since there are programs available on the NET to help with things like this. Steve |

| Posted: | | | | So all information should be state where and how it was got? Dunno that... That seems too difficult and time consuming task, I'm afraid. Some of mine contributions have passed the examination and have released. I have trying to learn the contribution rules but still wondering how I should make contribution. If there are some finnish spoken user, some advice would be good.

There is a reason for the madness.... well... most of it.... or at least some of it. Remember DVD Profiler has been around for many years. Rules and standards that looks strange to newcomers probably are the way they are based on behaviour that has been observed over the years. A few users do not really understand how a shared database must work towards a standard to avoid constant changing back and forth. Some of these would write anything in the contribution nodes to pass this "annoying" review that prevented the data to be the way they wanted. Unfortunately the act of these few stupid people is the reason for the suspicion. | | | Regards Lars |

That seems too difficult and time consuming task, Maybe difficult the very first times, but then it becomes second nature, IMHO. It just takes a minute to write down your sources. For instance, here is the note I left for my latest contribution Quote: Cast, Crew and Studios from film credits; Features from DVD menu; Video format and Rating from back cover, Running time verified with PowerDVD; Audio Tracks order verified with DVDfabDecrypter; DVD release date from http://www.libreriauniversitaria.it/mia-super-exragazza-ivan-reitman/dvd/8010312069574 | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |

This might help a lot, I think. Let's see... |
