I love having TCM or AMC channel on in the background ( besides CNN), when I am in the home office here working on my PC ( and of course my beloved DVD PROFILER)., . Which leads me to this question of the day:
When a movie (in its unedited form) is played on cable or satellite TV , (of which you own in your database),,  do you consider that warrants a 'watched by' and on what date so you can monitor just how many times you do see a particular film ???

For me it's a Big Yes..

For detailed tracking including TV, I use a MS Access database with an hierarchical Watched model. The image below shows the last toplevel entries: The red ones are TV, the blue ones are TV series on DVD, the white ones are Movie DVDs.

The DVD stuff is integrated with DVD Profiler, the TV-only stuff is not.

Nope for me.
I 'only' have free-TV and I'd rather gnaw off my left hand than watching a movie I own on DVD in perfect form dubbed, edited and with commercials.

If you read my post I did say.. " When a movie (in its unedited form) is played on cable or satellite TV , (of which you own in your database),,  do you consider that warrants a 'watched by' and on what date so you can monitor just how many times you do see a particular film ??? "

Like....,,,, Two Weeks ago TCM ran the 1933 version of King King,, and wouldn't you know it, the unedited commercial free version even had the opening Overture before the credits ran.., ( now when do you see that on commercial TV ??) I watched most of it with my 5 year old granddaughter, as I wanted to introduce the 'Beauty and the Beast' moral to her, and also I enjoyed her excitement of the monsters  etc.., ( reminded me when I was that age)..,, Bottom line,, when it was over,, I had to mark my 'Watched By'  so in the coming Year I'll know whether to bring that DVD out again so soon or wait an extra year.. ( Unless TCM runs it again..)
