I often use reports to keep my collection organized, but often find it difficult to locate certain DVDs because they are contained in box sets and sorted according to the box set and not the titles.  Adding insult to injury is the fact that it is very difficult to locate box sets because they look just like every other title.

I think that when creating reports it would be helpful to distinguish between a box set and the titles that it contains.  This could simply be an option that could be enabled/disabled according to user preference during report creation.  Some likely solutions when printing reports in this manner would be:

- Box set contents are indented like they are in the program itself
- Formatting indicates box set/box set contents (e.g., box set name is written in bold text or contents are written in italics)
- Bullet points are placed next to box set contents.
- Etc.

These are just some ideas that may help make box sets in reports more organized.  I'm sure others could come up with additional ideas and I think that it would be great to brainstorm about them in this topic.  And to Ken, I would love to see this feature implemented in the near future!

you could add a tag to single out your box set container, then when you want to run a report exclude these from the report and sort by name. This would then give a report in name order of all your collection except the boxes..

That's exactly what I do. That trick does inded sort child profiles according to the title, yet it doesn't help locate the DVDs contained in a box set.

Yeah.  I've done the same with tags already myself.  I suppose I was hoping to see some sort of optional formatting on the reports that would allow one to spot a boxset right off, or at least separate it from the crowd a bit (indenting child profiles like in the program, or writing box set parents in bold, etc.).

I've just noticed that you can exclude the box set cases from reports automatically so you don't need to use tags to do that..

Right you are, but then I don't want to exclude TV box set cases (on the contrary, I exclude TV box set contents, id est individual seasons), so I use a tag anyway
