Sometimes I just want to pop in and add a new purchase to the collection, but as soon as you hit the Add button it always has to download the profile info, etc., from the site. Maybe I'm just nuts, but I seem to recall that in the older Intervocative versions you could click "Cancel" and it would, well, cancel the download and allow you to then add.

Now if you cancel it you cannot add.

If you don't want to download the proifle right then, uncheck the "Download profile from Invelos" check box at the bottom of the Add DVD window.

Sorry, I'll have to clarify when I get home and can be 100% absolutely sure--from memory, though, when I click the Add button it automatically downloads information (perhaps I erroneously called it "profile" info?) before I am presented with the barcode entry screen.

If I cancel the barcode entry never shows up and I am presented with the normal view.

I guess DVDP updates the local profile *list* downloading the new entries from the online database.

If you dont download, the add dvd list wount be up to date. If you update the list fairly often (few times per week), it usually just takes few seconds.

Which cancel button are you hitting?

If I hit the one that pops up as part of the internet connection (in the center not the bottom right of the dialog window) then it says 'connection closed gracefully' and moves to the add dvds to owned window.
