| Posted: | | | | I have a problem with the use of the full box title for TV series child profiles (e.g., "Smallville: The Complete First Season: Disc 1"). This makes the title too long in the list and you can't see which disc is which without highlighting it (or opening the profile). This is especially true in the Mobile Version.
For my local profiles, I am using a shortend version of the title for the child profiles ("Smallville: Season 1: Disc 1"). This generally provides a title which can be read from the list without highlighting the title or opening the profile.
Of course, I'm not contributing these "non-standard" child titles, nor do I plan to unless they are welcomed by the community and Rules.
There was a thread a few days ago concerning titles for Child profiles in box sets, but the specific issue of TV series wasn't addressed in that thread.

| Posted: | | | | I don't know about Mobile, but in Profiler all you have to do is place the mouse over the long title and the full name pops up. I know what you mean though, it's a shame the whole thing can't be seen. But without making the collection window half your display I can't see much we can do about it. And if you think Smallville's bad - think what Buffy the Vampire Slayer looks like! |

| Posted: | | | | I have no problem with it the way it is (of course I don't have mobile)... and feel it is important that the full title is used... not a shortened version of the title (unless it truely does not fit in the field itself).
In my opinion.... what you doing is fine locally... but I personally would be against it for online. | | | Pete |

Only locally. Don't contribute it that way. I meant he can use the Sort Title FIELD, obviously local, and put THERE the shortened form of very long Titles. | | | -- Enry |

| Posted: | | | | I think the master DB should alwasy have the full title. But i too shorten the title locally (i have a 15" display), e.g. i shortened BSG: ...so that it fits nicely |

The sort title won't help with the display of the title in the limited space given - especially since the sort title isn't shown in the list. BTW: for sort titles I use "Adventures of Superman: S1D3 (or whatever). The problem I have is when faced with a list of child profiles when all I see is "Adventures of Superman: The Complete Second Season: Disc" with the disc number not visible. Also BTW: I have recently upgraded my system to a 22" widescreen monitor, so I now have enough room for titles. I still have a problem with the Mobile version, where that title shows up as: " Adventures of Superman: The C" - note the compete title of the parent profile isn't shown, either. I can live with things as they are - and as I said in my first post don't intend to contribute any non-standard titles. But for usability, especially with the Mobile version, I feel I must maintain a different title for my local database than what shows in the online one. @addicted I still liked Wolfie better than Nosferatu. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges?
