| Posted: | | | | Not sure how to go on this one... There is an actor credited in the film as James Stewart The famous James Stewart in the database has no birth year linked to his name. I have tried to determine this 'James Stewart' birth year through the usual sources, but to no avail. Temporarily to differentiate between the 2 actors, I have estimated his age and put a theoretical BY of 1967 with the submission, and will re-contribute once I am advised how this is best handled. Is the alternative to add the well known BY to the famous james Stewart? | | | |

That would seem to me to be the correct course of action, though I think you need to put BY on both of them otherwise the 'blank' birth year one will keep getting overwritten every time you download a profile with the non-blank one in. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

Thats what I thought also - so how do we proceed if we cannot verify an actors actual birth year? | | | |

I notice that even if we were allowed to use it the IMDb has incomplete credits on this and misses him out (and the one who I assume it is has no bio) ... if you want a laugh though the TV Guide site think it IS the same James Stewart and cross link them! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe we should ask for a checkbox called "year unknown" or something like that, so the program knows the field has been left deliberately blank and doesn't overwrite it whenever an update comes in. |

| Posted: | | | | The only other thing to do Rich is ask "How an actor that has been dead 10 years is able to play a role in the film?"
I know I had to use this argument for another BY submission (can't remember which one now)
