| | Posted: | | | | a lot of companies are using the camera on phones as a 1d or 2d barcode reader, im sure that one could supply a text string, or maybe a stripped down version could be added into dvdp mobile. But no rush. I admit especially for my wishlist it would be great to just scan over a code in the store.
But then I would want to be able to use my internet connection on my phone to update the online database or atleast my desktops database. |

| | Posted: | | | | there are blue tooth scanners on the market, a lot i know of use a usb cradle but these can probably be paired directly to the mobile device (though the cradle is the charger for the unit). One unit i know of specifically that can pair right to a mobile device is the flic, this one will also store scanned barcodes when out of range and send them when its back in range, quick search the cheapest bluetooth version (there are apparently serial and usb versions which i didnt know about) i saw was about $240 (US dollars). I'm considering a wireless scanner, and this is high on my consideration list, especially considering its size (its small so portable) and its inexpensive (compared to most wireless scanners)
the other option you have, providing you have a full size SD slot, is they make barcode scanners that plug into the SD card slot.
