| Posted: | | | | Well, first of all I've been using this software for about 3 days now and it's a great program. A couple of upgrades I'd like to see are as follows:
The ability to import cast and crew biographies from let's say IMDB, I know other programs allow you to do this. What would be great is if it could be done automatically but I'd take the option to select a name and download a bio and photo manually.
I'm wondering if there could be basic layout templates available. Just blank sections where the user could simply drag and drop the information they want. That would be a nice touch.
A way to fully integrate Profiler directly into Vista, without the use of an additional program, which is what I'm currently doing. (My Movies) is the additional program I'm talking about. It runs a little sluggish in Vista MC but does the job. It uses the exported XML file from Profiler and incorporates it all into MC.
Lastly, a little more control over the general appearance. It looks decent but I would love to see a semi-transparent and glassy look, similar to the Vista Aero scheme. Maybe I just mean an updated overall appearance.
Just my two cents. Anyone feel the same way? |

Forget it, it's against the TOS of IMDb. | | | Deutsches DVD Profiler Forum: www.dvdprofiler-forum.de |

| Posted: | | | | Forget IMDb, the single most inaccurate source for film data in the universe. You can however track 10,000 titles at IMDb if you really like them. This IS DVDProfiler. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

That most definitely is not going to happen here. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Expanding on what my friend kat said and before you ask why won't it happen. There are tw primary reasons. 1) As I noted earlier IMDb is the single most inaccurate source for data pertaining in the world 2) You have to pay a license FEE to be able to use their data for DVDProfiler, as I am sure you are aware competing programs, all of which are no where near as good as profiler, cost a good bit more than Profiler, would you care to guess where that added cost goes to. Besides why would I want to pay for data as completely and totally inaccurate as they are, it is not unheard of but it is indeed a very rae day when they get it right. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! You made a good choice with dvdprofiler, which is really wonderful. In the forum , you'll find, as everywhere friendly people , and less friendly . Try not to use the word IMDb, because for most users of this forum, it's pure horror. In fact, I agree with you that many informations on IMDb are very useful, they just need sometimes to be verified. Anyway, you can use your local database as you want. If you want to contribute profiles, you have to look at the rules, since you'll have to follow them strictly. If you find them too strict, you can use your local profiles as you want. IMO IMDb is a very useful data source which (like every other source) has its flaws. It is not as inaccurate as some people like to see it. But for copyright reasons neither Amazon nor Ken (Invelos) want us to copy data from there into the Invelos online database. But for other purposes (documentation, research etc.) it is a valid source as any other third party source. |

Rho: The endless bashing as you put it, is that they are a valid research source only IF their data can be trusted. I have discovered so many errors in IMDb that I do not trust them for ANY thing. They are a great concept that was allowed to go astray, and are currently a total disaster. I will use them as a research source but NOT on their own, anything that I find at IMDb MUST be verified by at least one other independent source, preferably TWO, those are MY standards and why. And over the years I have found that them to be so bad that I frankly do not understand anyone that worships at the altar of the vaunted IMDb. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!
