| | Posted: | | | | First off - this poll is NOT about whether we should treat these profiles as boxsets or not. They are, it's done, we're not discussing it here.
OK - there are a very small number of profiles that are treated like boxsets even though they only contain alternate cuts of the same film. I know of only two: Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition and Brazil: Criterion Collection.
The problem is a lot of new users join up, add them as a normal profile and see only an empty profile not realising we've treated them like a film boxset.
So we're discussing ways to see if we can make it easier for people to realise that these profiles are treated differently to normal.
There have been two suggestions:
1. Treat them like a TV boxset, so both the parent and the child profiles contain the info.
2. Create a list of these special profiles, so users can check to see if their DVD is on the list.
What do you guys think? |

For me it really depends whether I want to profile all versions separately or just have one profile. The versions presented for either Brazil or Dawn of the Dead are so much different from each other, that I wanted to have them separate, while the US vs UK Versions for Vanishing Point did not want me do that.
So, let's do it like TV sets and have them listed in a thread, so that we can see which ones are available; then everyone can decide for themselves on a case-by-case basis. | | | Achim [諾亞信； Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.

The fact is, there are some profiles like this, and the question is how best to deal with them. To say they shouldn't have been done that way in the first place doesn't solve the issue. This is about alternative cuts (versions), that don't always have the same cast and crew. Such as the case with Criterion's release of "Brazil" and "Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate Edition". | | | Are you local?

... maybe configurable within the options: "Automatically download", "Ask before downloading", "Ignore children"...
