| Posted: | | | | The Rules say that if there are two versions of the same film in a release (say the Theatrical and Directr's cuts) we don't use child profiles but put the longest version into Runtime and leave it at that.
I want to know how we are supposed to deal with audio tracks: eg. if there was, say, one commentary on the Theatrical and another on the DC would you put that in the profile as a single commentary audio or two? If one is DD 5.1 only and the other is DD 2.0 only what then? Similarly what if one has French subs and the other has spanish subs... do we put in both or would we try to establish a 'lead' profile?
FWIW I'm asking because in the soon-but-not-soon-enough release of Blade Runner: 5 Disc Ultimate, the Final Cut version gets 3 commentaries and the Workprint version gets another, different, commentary.
Thanks in advance for your comments. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Regarding the Blade Runner release, I believe this problem you forsee actually won't present itself.
In this case, the multiple versions of the movie differ so much from one another that I'd advocate the creation of seperate profiles for all.
Especially since (except for the workprint version) these movies all have had theatrical exposure before. | | | Lutz |

Ohh, that could be controversial ... and the Theatrical and old DC are on the same disc... not sure about seamless branching or not. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | added to that is that we can't add child profiles for the Hi-Def versions (can't add their disc-id yet) so all versions will be in 1 profile for those. | | | Stuart |

| Posted: | | | | If the two versions (or more) share a profile, I would profile the highest amount of commentaries available on any version. So, if one version has three and another only one, I would profile three. (Would that be "the highest common denominator...?) I would not add them up. (Adding them up could ultimately have us run out of space on some profiles ) I wouldn't be able to locate a thread or anything, but I believe this issue was raised at InterVocative before and we ultimately agreed on the above. (I could be wrong here though ) Side note: As for the Blade Runner, I will profile all discs versions separately in my collection. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.
