thanks to give to me some explanations about these new case types (to use it well)

does the slip cover is what there is around a slip case ? if yes (as i think), does a slip cover is always opened  at top and bottom or can we say that a slip cover can ALSO be opened at the right (like for many digipacks with a cover) ?

what is exactly the case type : Elite ?

i hope that you will iunderstand my explanations and questions

for the thinpack : no question !!!

thanks to you

Hi pgaudin,

For your first question I think a slip cover is opened at the top and/or at the bottom. It's only when you have a "packing" for an individual DVD of movie and slip case is when you have several dvds like TV Show. For the digipak, I don't know which we should choose. There is a discussion about this here.
For the Elite case type, it's the case type used by HD-DVD.
Regards
Cyrille

You can get some Slip Covers that only open on one side though like the Alien Vs Predator Extreme Edition.

A "Slip Cover" can be any cardboard covering regardless of the number of openings or where they are located.

No, not for purposes of use in Profiler.  Ken said a slip case has one opening for use with a multidisc digipak or multiple keepcases.  A slip COVER goes over a SINGLE disc holder of some sort.  For our purposes, it has two openings.  To do it any other way means the new changes he made in the case type section don't make sense.

There are several types of keepcases for the HD-DVDs. For example the ones Universal uses, then the ones Warner uses. Paramount uses another version.
In europe, there is another one from Amaray which is double the size of the Warner cases.

And just one case type "Elite"?

It somehow doesn't fit the "digipak + slipcover" policy

Ken said that TODAY.

So as of his statement TODAY, I stand corrected.

Neither of Ken's statements limit the number of openings in this manner.

Slip Case should be used when the profile itself has no other case.  If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types.  If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.

I'll take a stab at wording this succinctly for inclusion in the rules.

If digipacs are in slip cover then what is the purpose of a SLIP CASE ???

AIUI when a slip is around multiple keep cases(say) so essentially Slip Case = old Box Set case type which has just been renamed so as not be be confused with 'box set' info for child profiles.

Slip cover is a new feature/info to be added to most digipaks and when there's an outer slip on a single keep case etc.

All Correct.

Just for fun, when you have a box set (multiple keep cases in a cover) with an additional see through plastic slip over the top of the box I dare say that is case type "Slip Case, Slip Cover"... and yes I have at least one

You will not be able to check the slip cover checkbox in those (should be rare) cases.  It's this way to hopefully reduce confusion.

Criterion's new Eclipse Series uses a cardboard exterior, open at top and bottom, inside which are thinpaks of individual films. I would use slip case for the box set profile even though the outer packaging has two holes.
