I have the Parent Trap/Parent Trap II UPC: 786936-286960. It's set up as a non box set, but since there are two movies put together it is a box set, right?  The movies are on one disc, the extra features are on another...I'm pretty sure the rules consider it a box set since there are 2 movies, but since it was accepted into the database this way, I thought I'd double check.

I'm willing to do the child profiles for it if it is, but I'm wondering how to do the disc id?  Since both movies are on the same disc, do I put the same disc ID down for both?

Thanks!
Lori

Single sided.

I have another question as well...in the original movie, Parent Trap, Hayley Mills' double is Susan Henning.  She's in the movie, but uncredited to give the illusion that Hayley played both girls for the whole thing, but Susan is the person you see the back of as well as one scene you see her face (the food fight scene).  The information of who she is comes from one of the featurettes on the DVD.  Would this be an acceptable source for her name... the interview is of her and Hayley Mills mentions her in another featurette as well.

It's not a boxset if both movies are on one side of a disc. You'll have to seperate the cast and crew for each movie using dividers.

Kevin, can you explain why it wouldn't be a box set?  I'm not trying to pick a fight, just curious.  The rules say: "The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film. The main examples are:"  Then it lists examples.  While this is not on it, they aren't listing every possible type, just a few.

This contains both movies, which to me, would be a box set.  Just would like to know why it wouldn't be?

Right now it is set up so the movies are seperated by dividers and right now I've just added full cast and crew to this and can contribute that, but to me, it just seems like I should empty this profile and create child profiles for the movies and extras (which is on its own disc).

It can't be a box set because a box set for this would require 3 profiles...one for the 'box' and one for each film.  The profiles have to be created using UPC, for the parent, and disc IDs for the child profiles.  Since both films are on the same side of the disc, there is only one disc ID.  It is a limitation in the program.

How about making one profile for the two movies and one for the extras disc.  So just 2 child profiles.  Not a perfect solution but a closer one than is there already?

Unicus:

It is by definition a boxset. lori needs to set up at least One child using dividers for the two films.

"The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film. The main examples are:, etc.

Main examples doesnot indicate that they are the ONLY possible examples. Once again the Rule is clear.

Two films on ONE disc=More than ONE.

Whether she creates an extra one for the Bonus Disc could be up for opinion, personally I would leave the bonus Disc with the Parent. But I have no problem the other way, it is a little less consitent.

What is the point of creating a child for this profile when there is only one disc that counts?

The Rules also ask to create individual profiles for each film, which is not possible, as unicus already pointed out. Individual UPCs or Disc-IDs are not available.

It is at this time only possible to create a single profile, using dividers to separate Cast & Crew,

Kevin:

It all depends on where you are looking. The rules are clear in how they define Boxset, right NOW the solution is less than optimum but....it may not be down the road.

The rules say nothing about a one-sided disc containing two films. So they're not that clear.

Creating a child profile in this instance is ludicrous.

More than one film...yes

Boxset by definition....yes

Very clear.

<shakes heads> Where is there not clarity. Ireally don't see the lack of clarity, i see the possibility to INVENT it, but not in reality.

Well, there is a lack of clarity because :-
a) none of the options listed for dealing with releases with more than one film suit this purpose. It's like trying to fit a square peg etc etc
b) it doesn't say what to do in this situation. All it says is to 'Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets.' Can you explain how we are supposed to do that in this circumstance? No? Thought not.

OK, she's technically a stunt double.  They didn't have the technology to do things as easily for one person playing twins in those days like we do today, so they used body or stunt doubles in some scenes to keep costs down.

If she is not credited in the cast list then I would not give even an uncredited with documentation, because we don't include stunt/body doubles in the credits except under certain very narrow circumstances

Yes, it is.  It isn't two versions of the same movie, it is two entirely different movies.  That qualifies as a box set regardless of how they are contained on the media.
