| Posted: | | | | I am using DVD Profiler (trial version) with a cuecat reader. The reader does not read all the time. Which readers are better? I am looking at a POS-X and a V-Line reader. Any suggestions |

| Posted: | | | | I got a Zebex Z-3080 CCD scanner last week from eCost.com for $14.99 (US). I have used a CueCat, too, but the Z-3080 is a REAL scanner. Put the thing over the barcode, press the button, and voila - it outputs the UPC.
I don't know if this was a reconditioned model, grey market model, or whatever, because the $15 price is much lower than the MSRP shown on the ZBA website ($149.00). But it works well enough to suit me. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. | Posted: | | | | I just looked on their WWW site and it does not even show up there. In fact I didn't see any barcode scanners for that cheap. Do you have eCost's part number? For $15 I'd pick one up...
Thanks |

http://stores.ebay.com/The-CueCat-Store By "them" I assume you mean CueCats. I got one recently (for about $10) but it doesn't work as well as my Z-3080 which cost me all of $24 including shipping. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. | Posted: | | | | No matter what scanner I get, I can't say that it works better than my USB CueCat because the CueCat performs as I would expect it to perform. Scans barcodes almost always on the first scan and hits enter for me too. |

| Posted: | | | | bigdog,
If you're referring to the Z-3080 I got from eCost it's a PS2 scanner - It uses a splitter connected to the keyboard jack of the PC, then connect the Keyboard to the other cable coming from the splitter. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? ZRA makes a version of the Z-3080 with a USB connection, but it's considerably more expensive than the PS2 one I got for $15. Say, doesn't anyone use a barcode reader other than the CueCat (and me with the ZRA)? Or is it just that there isn't anyone interested in this topic? | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? | Posted: | | | | I used a CueCat until last week. I just found an Adesso Nuscan 1000U at half price ($45) that works great. Using Tlevel's plugin, I just did a full audit on my collection of 1898 titles. I found twelve or so that had a mismatch between the UPC barcode and the profile. Most of these were profiles that I had added by title when I first started with DVDProfiler. I found a few that I think got changed as we moved from IVS' ten digits to Invelos' twelve (yes I am in R1).
I wish I had junked that CueCat years ago, this new reader is great!
