Someone actually voted yes to this crazy cover image update after all the negative votes had been cast. People should be given reprimands for this kind of behavior because it blatantly says they did not examine the update at all. This update needs to be removed now.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious someone didn't bother actually looking at it...

UPC:  043396-183728

It has to be some kind of mistake. He even put "Updated/Created Full Screen" (referring to the cover scan) in his notes.

At least he tried. Hopefully he'll figure it out and continue to submit. The scan itself isn't that bad.

It was his 1st ever submission (at least here at Invelos). I am willing to call it a mistake and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Glad you get a laugh out of my having faith in others.

Oh... that's right, everyone is out to destroy the Db. I forgot. My bad.

EDIT: Ken - are we getting any closer to having an "ignore" feature for the forums? It really is needed. Someone who posts in nearly every thread is hard to ignore without it.

Awwww, poor Rick, doesn't even know what I find so amusing. But your guess is wrong. I am only playing YOUR game. You don't like it? I would have thought you would have appreciated it.

I am so disappointed.

The same guy who voted Yes to this contribution is also one of the people who voted Yes to an earlier Contribution I mentioned in another thread about reprimanding people who vote Yes to anything and everything no matter how obvious it is against the rules... and common sense.  Go figure.

As lyonsden says, I have nothing against the contributer in this case (or the one I mentioned) as they just don't know any better.  I'd hate to go back and look at some of the first contributions I tried to give (actually, I distinctly remember getting a few PMs from Skip setting me straight back in 2005) so I feel for the guy and all.  But the voters.. I got nothing for them.  If you're going to vote, look at what you're friggin voting for.

Since this thread called out the movie to point out the problem, I'll specifically say the one I alluded to in the other thread.  UPC# 043396-051607 for Ghostbusters 1 & 2.  Even if you glance at it thinking they should add the cast list to the profile, I would hope a cast list of 5 people may raise a red flag.  But nope.. Vote Yes, call it a day, their work is done.

I also realize these Yes votes are not going to confuse Gerri/Ken into accepting the profiles.  I just can't rationally understand what is going on in these peoples' minds to vote Yes.  And if they're not even looking (which seems to be the case) then I'd say completely yank their voting priviledges.

Also, I'd check to see if they weigh the same as a duck.  If they do, then we know exactly what needs to be done.

Nah, Vega too harsh. On ehopes that one day these users will stop sleepwalking through the process, I have watched it now for two years, along with a number of of others things in the voting that simply aren't worth talking about. It has gotten far better than it used to be.

The burning them or pulling the voting priviledges?

I didn't mean a permanent ban on their voting, just something like a week suspension with an email/PM telling them why.  I cannot honestly understand why they are even participating if they don't have an interest to helping make the database correct.

I really think it has to do with the fact that they just don't understand the concept of a user-built online database, and a personally configurable local database.  I also suspect that many of them just flat out don't give a damn and will do whatever they like, rules or no rules.  We've had some run-ins here with some of these clowns in recent months.

Wanted to mention as well, when I check new contributions, one of the  first things I check is the voters tallly count., this then gives me an idea of how much time to spend on that contribution.
If I see 20 or 30 yes,, 0 No.., it will be a slamdunk to quickly check for the obvious and then vote yes./, or IF I find only 1 or 2 votes, I'll first look at the name who is submitting, if it is a regular, like myself and others here, I won't be too judmental unless I do find something that others would look for as well.
