| Posted: | | | | I've exported my database into xml, then rebuilt my laptop. Now I am completely stuck. There is no option to import this xml file. I then tried to access my profiler webpage (http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/bubblyjane) through the profiler but now it doesn't know my username or password anymore. I have now needed to register again to post this question. Can anybody help me to bring the data back into the profiler on my laptop please? Thanks a lot Jane |

Quote: http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/bubblyjane Well, this looks good. You just need to reinstall DVD Profiler 2.4 (they can be installed both at the same time, no problem). download the collection, make a backup and restore that backup into 3.0.3 cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

| Posted: | | | | Dear Jane Your collection at Intervocative is the one you had using the old version (2.4 or 2.5). To get to that you need to re-install the old version and download it from there (using your old name and password). Create a backup and install the new version and import the backup file in 3.0. You can then upload it to the Invelos site. Your new url will be: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/bubblyjane Unfortunately there's no direct way to import XML but you could open your xml file in Excel to create a list of UPCs/EANs and then use goodguys plugin: Import UPC list if you can't get the old version to download. Hope this helps Ahhhh - had forgotten about Mithis XSLT "thingy" - you should probably check that out first... | | | Last edited: by soulgazer |

| Posted: | | | | Of course in future, if you noticed in the menu there is an 'export' option, but no 'import'. However, you obviously didn't notice the options for 'backup' and 'restore.
It amazes me how many people think export is a backup. | | | Home of the phpDVDProfiler forums |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks a lot for your help. On a side note I didn't intend to use the export as a backup tool, my laptop crashed and all I had left was the xml file and my profiler online. Now unfortunately I am not able to find profiler 2.4 version anywhere. Could you help with that, please? Thanks a lot, once again Jane |

Well, my first instinct was to write: www.intervocative.com (the old site), but even there the old version is gone. Well, the net is vast and infinite as Major Kusanagi said, the old version is still there, e.g. here from Freenet (press "zum Download" and "Download starten") cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

| Posted: | | | | Please note that one of the restrictions of the free version of dvd profiler is that if you have more than 50 dvds then you cannot upload your collection to the online website.
In this case you will need to use something like phpdvdprofiler or will need to buy the program. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | There is a tool to import UPCs into 2.4. So, now you are only left with getting the UPCs out of the XML... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |
