| Posted: | | | | I was auditing my copy of 'Bicentennial Man', and I'm a bit confused what to do with this: As you can see, Isaac Asimov gets credited twice. My instinct was to copy this into DVD Profiler - two "original material by" credits - but not all voters agree with this. I realise I could also just remove one of these two entries, I did actually consider doing that, but since he's so clearly credited twice on-screen too, I thought it best to let our list of credited reflect that, by also listing him twice. Truly "as credited", I thought. How does the community feel about this? |

| Posted: | | | | Good question. This also goes for original song writers that may be credited many times for different songs.
IMO, I don't see the benefit of multiple duplicate credits so I would say credit only once. | | | Stuart |

This is exactly how I felt. As I said: truly "as credited" - he appears twice on-screen, so I enter him twice into DVD Profiler. Quoting Gadgeteer: Quote: So would you credit a song writer 10 times if that's how many original songs he's credited for? I admit that I haven't done that yet, but yes, maybe we should. If that's how it appears on-screen, then so be it. It's basically following "as credited". If we're to eliminate all duplicate credits for DVD Profiler purposes, can we get that little tidbit added to the rules, please? |

Unfortunately it's not truly as credited because we can't have roles sayng: "Based on Short Story By" or "Novel By". Instead we will have 2 "Original Material By" credits which tells us no more than if it was just the 1 entry. | | | Stuart |

I agree it's far from perfect, but having two entries at least gives an indication that it's not just Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg who came op with "original material" together. Without giving any specifics, it DOES let you know that there's something more to it. I just went with "as credited" because I could find nothing in the rules prohibiting me to enter duplicate entries, instead they only told me to enter all cast and crew exactly as they appear in the credits. That's why I did what I did. Having said that, I'll bow to what the majority wants... |

| Posted: | | | | Tim: I have him double-billed for exactly the reasons you describe. And as you noted it is not perfect, butit does give us alittle bit more information relative to the film. The only way to fix it really correctly would be for us to have open Crew BUT............. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I don't see the point at all with crediting him twice, unless we could have some field or additional text box to type the title of the original material. Then it would be useful, otherwise, you don't have any idea why he is there twice. | | | Funny, these cookies don't taste anything like Girl Scouts.

So would you credit a song writer 10 times if that's how many original songs he's credited for? Actually, this isn't a problem. I only credit song writers that are credited in the opening credits with "Songs by" (or similar credits), this is normally only 1 credit. I don't credit people listed as writers of songs at the end of the end credits where all songs used in the film are grouped together, as it almost never says that these songs were written specifically for the film. |

| Posted: | | | | I really don't know what the correct answer is, but if I were doing the profile from scratch, I probably would have only entered one credit. While the second credit is certainly relevant on-screen, it's just vague in Profiler. |
