| Posted: | | | | I tried to browse with the search feature and couldn't find this exactly. I might've overlooked it and if I did I apologize in an advance. Just point me to the way.
My question is this...where is it preferred that we get the genres for a movie at? To clarify this a bit more when adding a DVD to the database in the genre field you can put the different genres. Where is a reputable source to get this aside from IMDB, since as I read in other posts we shouldn't pull info from there.
I ask this because right now I'm going through my collection and tagging each movie and fixing up any profiles that might need it and on one of them I noticed it just said Comedy. I did a search an IMDB showed Comedy/Sports while another site showed Comedy/Drama and another showed Comedy/Drama/Sports. In an effort not to upload false data I wanted to see where a reputable source is to get this information.
Thanks in advance for any help!! |

If you've seen the movie it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out where it falls. Being so subjective though, the rules do specifically state not to really mess with the Genre's if that's all your changing. Rules: Quote: Genre Genres are often a matter of personal interpretation, which can differ among users. If your personal preference for Genre differs from the main database, you can store the information you prefer in your local database and lock the Genre field from further updates. Do not make contributions that only change or re-order Genres, unless the existing Genre list is blatantly incorrect. So, unless you find one that's just completely wrong or you're doing a fairly big overhaul on a lacking profile, it's probably best to just adjust them in your own profiles and lock the fields and not worry about it. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams | | | Last edited: by Vega |
