| Posted: | | | | I submitted a boxset containing Ice Age 1 and 2 (5039036028707) which was accepted but the two individual child profiles (submitted by disc ID as they have no UPC) were not.
This was the reason that was given: "Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions."
I copied the cast and crew from the individual profiles of these two movies that already were in the database, but didn't change anything.
My contribution note clearly stated: "initial contribution for this first part of a double boxset". Since it was an initial contribution, I don't understand the reference to "changes" in the rejection.
What did I do wrong??? This never happened before. |

| Posted: | | | | you should probably say that you got the information for the disc ids from the approved upc profiles of the two movies, if that's what you did. otherwise it appears as if you've created completely new information without citing the source. at a educated guess. krik | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia. | Posted: | | | | You should have stated the source for the cast and crew info. And any other info really. New contributions don't just fly through without any notes these days. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

| Posted: | | | | You should probably run a quick check on the data as well, you would be surprised just how wrong an approved Profile might be.

| Posted: | | | | Isn't it just. I really dislike this new trend of people copying the data from another locality's profile with the contribution notes then stating something like 'cast and crew from APPROVED R1 release'. Erm... the one they're contributing to has ALSO been previously approved. I don't get it. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

Unless it's a new profile. I meant to put that little caveat in there. Usually, however, it's not. | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

| Posted: | | | | You need to provide sources on the cast crew in the child profile. The parent profile had no cast/crew so I went ahead and accepted it.

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the feedback Gerri and the other replies as well. Would stating that the crew was copied from an approved profile be sufficient ??? Perhaps with the UPC of the profile ?? I would normally do a check but since these movies have been out for a couple of years, I assumed the credits would be ' finalised' Oh, can I suggest that you put the need to provide sources somewhere in the contribution guidelines?? I checked, and it's not mentioned in the credits section as such (it mentioned that sources may be used to identify roles). |

Oh, can I suggest that you put the need to provide sources somewhere in the contribution guidelines?? I checked, and it's not mentioned in the credits section as such (it mentioned that sources may be used to identify roles). If you copy cast/crew from another profile, you must mention in your contribution notes what source the original profile gives for its data. If it doesn't give a correct source (i.e. the actual credits) you shouldn't use it in the first place. (Ken said that if you copy data from another profile you should make sure to name source given in that profile's contribution notes.) |

| Posted: | | | | Possibly peripheral to this topic: I think the contribution rules need to be updated if sources are supposed to be cited in the contribution notes field. It's fine if that's something people want to see, but for the folks trying to make first-time (or even third-or-fourth-time) contributions and not realizing why they're getting declined, this might help. I know I've seen some of my [admittedly infrequent] contributions get declined for "not citing sources" but that's nowhere to be found in the rules. |

| Posted: | | | | It is no where in the rules yet but it is stated on the same page as you make your contribution.... it says... Quote: For changes to existing profiles, enter a brief description of the changes you've made.
For all contributions, indicate the source of the data, especially cast and crew additions.
Invelos reviewers and fellow users will use this information to help them decide whether to accept the changes, so be sure to provide explanations where needed. so it does tell you to do so when you go to make your contribution... and I am sure it will be in the rules when they do get updated as well. | | | Pete |
