A lot of the time, when I record a film off the television, rather than enter it as a new profile, I'll download an existing profile of the same film.
However I'd then like to break the connection between my profile and the online one, so it would be great if you could either remove the UPC or edit it so it says "manual dvd.." or something like that.

You can give it an arbitrary number that suits you, like 001, 002 etcetera. These are not valid UPC's.

I tried that and it just gave me an invalid UPC message - I'll try again though.
Can it only be numbers? It would be very helpful if you could add text.

Edit: yeah it won't let me. I type in a number, it warns me that it's not a valid UPC, I click OK anyway, and I get an error message that it's not a valid UPC and it doesn't make the change.

If you're burning these on DVDs then you could change to the disc id.

Thanks I'll try that!
For some reason I assumed that because they are DVDRs then they wouldn't have an ID!

Yes but the problem with Disc-ID is we can contribute them after if we don't pay attention.
If it's a manual entry, we can't and it's a security to avoid to contribute them.

I think in 2.4 we could convert an UPC to a manual entry it could be good to have this feature back.

That's strange. You can change one invalid UPC (or "Manual #) into another, but a valid one can not be removed or changed into an invalid one...

I really worry about the memory capacity of some Profiler users

Before 2.4, we could add letter in the UPC field so for example to write M01, M02, ... because this bug was fixed in the version 2.4 "Fixed an error which allowed letters to be pasted into the Change UPC dialog" SOURCE. So I wasn't totally wrong...

I probably should have deleted a bit of the text. I was referring to the fact people are concerned they won't remember it's not a commercial title and submit, not that we used to be able to edit UPCs with letters.

I knew that as I did it a few times myself.
