Any chance of an icon that indicates if that upc/ean/discid is already in the database. Like the one that exists to indicate that an update is available.
Obviously it would rely on having an up to date profile database downloaded, but I'm sure your server could do with a less data being sent in. | | |

¤ If the profile is a 'Manual' profile the contribution button could be dimmed/disabled.
¤ Use a button (possibly next to the contibution button) instead of the (ugly) "View Conributors" link. + dim/disable it if the profile is a 'Manual' profile. |

But wouldn't you discover that a profile isn't in the database when you go to initially add the UPC or Disc ID to your collection? |
