I recently bought a 2-pack for $19.98 and was curious how you enter the price page for the two titles? Do you split it in half and thus, in this case, $9.98 even though the one DVD is new and sells for $16.xx and the other is around $6. Dumb question maybe, but was curious how others approach this.

If it is about a boxset as in your case, I always put the total price for the box and then 0,00 for each child profile. I think that's the "cleanest" way to handle it, because it applies also to boxes where there is an extra disk, that is somehow of less importance - say, for example, the Star Wars- and Indiana Jones-boxes).

Only when we are talking about "Pick 3, pay for 2"-campaigns or something similar, I divide prices for individual titles (and if the prices vary from each other, I deduct them proportionately  - i.e. the biggest deduction for the most expensive of the set, and so on).

Well, it sounds like what he's talking about isn't a boxset.  It's those 2-pack thingies where they shrinkwrap 2 individual (they have their own UPCs) DVDs together and sell them together at a discounted price.  Basically, you end up with 2 separate UPCed movies but you paid 1 price for both.

I rarely buy that type, but the few I have I just split the price down the middle between them.  I don't see the difference is trying to figure out if one was $15 and the other was $5 or if one was $12 and the other $8.  No matter how you slice it, you spent $20 between the two so does it really matter?  As long as the total amount spent for the entire collection adds up right, that's really all I care about (and really, not so much anyway as every time I look at that number I think I have a mini-heart attack).

Ah OK. I thought it was about those 2packs, where they have their own packaging showing covers of both movies. I don't buy those myself, but if I did, I would regard that as boxset with 2 child profiles.

Infact, I was talking about completely separate titles that belong to a campaign, where you get one price deduction for the whole lot. Their individual prices are what they are, but since I had to pay less for them, and since they are not in one "package" where the (reduced) price would go to the boxset, I rather snip the price (I paid) from all of them accordingly (So I don't enter them into DVDP so that 2 of the 3 were normal priced and one had BIG discount.) And I agree: no, it really doesn't matter  (but still...)

I went ahead and just split it down the middle since, unlike something like Flags of Our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima, the two I got have little in common except studios (both were Fox).

I guess now it's more of a question of what others like to do in this situation... More of curiosity.

What I usually do with these 2-fers is enter them as unique titles (assuming they each have a separate UPC) and divide the purchase price between them.  I notice both Best Buy and Circuit City are advertising 2-fers this week.

i always spread out the discount - even when purchasing say from columbia house - where upfront dvds are super cheap and get more expensive at the end, i will divide it out evenly among them (unless a box set is involved, then i have a whole math equation i use)

Oh ya, I didn't even think about one of those since you don't see them very often.  I actually do have one of those (Made & Swingers) and I did as you said and made it a boxset with 2 child profiles even though it's a single keepcase with 2 discs inside.

I'm pretty much the exact opposite.    I like to know what I actually paid for each DVD so in the Columbia House situation I'd put the full price I paid for the first one and use the discounted price for all the others since that is what I actually paid for them.  For boxsets I keep it simple and just put the price paid in the parent profile and leave all the children as 0.

One of my local stores currently has a" Buy 2 Get One Free" deal.  I divided total price by 3 and placed the result in each profile.  The "Price I Paid" field is different to the "RRP" field.

I put the discount price in the "Price I Paid" and if I know the original RRP, that goes in the RRP field.

Type in each of the UPC codes and see if it is in data base,, download titles and data to your Profiler., Keep SRP as is and type in price 'Paid' either full price for one of the discs and $0.00 for the other or split it in half., But Keep SRP as is., The idea of of the SRP is to :
1. monitor how much you have saved over paying full price, and
2. keeping an inventory of what your library is worth Insurance wise.
My SRP to actual costs is just over 50%.. i.e.  $12,000 in SRP and $6400 in real monies spent.
