| Posted: | | | | Ok, as usual I went and bought some software without actually testing it out and now I'm trying to figure out how to do a couple of things.
1) I have 2 copies of some DVD's and DVD profiler keeps telling me that it is allready in the database and that I can't add it again. Any suggestions?
2) How do I edit multiple records? For instance, I would like to be able to highlight many records and then change the genre of them to what I want.
3) I have DVD shelves in various rooms and I have the DVD's numbered but they are not unique numbers. for instance, I have a shelf in my great room and the dvd's are number from 1-700 and then I have another shelf in my bedroom that is also labeled 1-700. Neither of these shelves are complete, but what I would like to be able to do is enter in all the dvds from the bedroom, and then tell DVD profiler to start the collection number at 1000 and then enter in the dvd's from the great room, and then tell DVD profiler to start at 2000 and enter the dvd's from my den. But then at a later date when I start adding more dvd's to the bedroom, I would need to be able to start at the number that I want again.
4) How can I reimport data back into DVD Profiler? I have found the export to XML but I can't seem to find the import button.
5) Is it possible to access the database? Most of my problem would not be problems if I could access the database from a SQL client. Any suggestions?
Any hints or tips on how to do some of the things that I am looking to do would be greatly appreciated. |

You need to add the second copy by Disc ID instead of UPC/EAN Quote: 2) How do I edit multiple records? Flag the profiles whose genre you wish to change then Edit Flagged and change the genre. I believe this can be accomplished using the "location" tab but not sure. Someone with more experience in this area may be able to help. Quote: 4) How can I reimport data back into DVD Profiler? Hope this helps somewhat. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

As 8ballMax says, just use the location and slot fields in Personalise. You can use location to store the room, and slot for the number. Duplicates are allowed so there's no problem with restarting the numbering. |

Flag the profiles whose genre you wish to change then Edit Flagged and change the genre.
There is no edit flagged. You have to edit the profiles individually. Alternatively you could setup your own set of genres using Tags - i.e. add your own selection and then tag those profiles that you want to have that genre. e.g. set up a tag for Fantasy & Science Fiction, or Manga or lizard movies. Then tag the appropriate films so they have these selected. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | That is not good, now that I have locations how do I move them to the new locations without having to edit them one by one again?
Also, is there a way to "set" the location so that I can tell it "bed room" and then scan like 200 records and then change the location to "great room" and then scan another 200 records? | | | Last edited: by blindguy |

| Posted: | | | | Not that I'm aware of I'm afraid. One by one is the only way I know of to enter this info. |

Not quite sure about the Collectionnumbers, but I would create tags for the different shelves in the first place. So you can filter on those tags. No. For data-backup (and that should be made regulary) use the backupfunction. Quote: 5) Is it possible to access the database?
