I submitted data on the 3 RoboCop movies: CoO, missing sentences from overview, etc. I included documentation and I submitted everthing on July 9th; the data was "Received". When I checked today, these contributions were not there. I'm not sure why and I remember reading others have had this problem so I resubmitted the contributions thinking the data got lost in cyberspace somewhere. Anyone know why this is occuring? Is this the correct thing to do?

Where are those? Never mind - I found them.

But - there was no notes from the July 9th submission because all 3 movies were not to be found on the "My Profiler" "Contributions" page. The 3 movies, and contibution notes, are there now because I just resubmitted them; that's my quandary  - where did the July 9th contributions go? They were not acted on as far as I can see - no votes, rejections, etc.

Where are you looking at Kathy? If you can't see them in your My Profiler >> Contributions page, then they went "poof!" and are gone. So you might as well submit them.

However, if you go to the Database >> All pending updates page, you can see if your submissions are there. You just can't vote on 'em.

Hope that helps, little lady.

I was editing my message to 8ballmax as you were trying to help! I had done all of your suggestions before starting this thread but I thought I might have missed something - which I'm very good at! I had checked the "Database >> All pending updates" page this morning too but they weren't there either. I guess saying they went "poof!" is as good an explaination as any! I need some "Twilight Zone" music inserted here. I've resubmitted everything, hopefully it will work this time; I don't want to be stuck on 1 accepted contribution forever!

One last question, which has probably been answered before  , can the contribution be amended/changed/withdrawn if I realize I forgot something or made a mistake? How? When?

Thanks for the help - Kathy

Kathy's not kidding: I've noticed this several times the last few days, too. In a list of about two dozen contributions, two random entries just "disappeared". It seems to happen at the moment they're about to be processed: they're neither "approved" nor "declined", but they just disappear. Resubmitting seems to work fine, as it's appears to be totally random: the chance that it happens again to the exact same profiles is relatively small. It all sounds a bit paranoid, but I'm absolutely certain this did indeed happen to me a couple of times in the past few days, while dozens of other updates were processed normally.

You can withdraw a contribution at any time up until it is approved. If you go to your My Profiler >> Contributions page you can see what you have contributed. The, just click on the title of the contribution. When you do that, it will show your contribution notes, and over on the right-hand side of the page with be the word "Withdraw." Click on that, and you can make your own things go "poof!"

Oh yeah, and to T!M as well... you guys aren't the only ones it happens to. I had it happen to me yesterday. I just shrugged my shoulders and resubmitted.

Ok - this is just weird. I resubmitted the 3 DVDs and when I went to "My Profiler" and looked at "Contributions" there they were...BUT the "Contibution Notes" were missing and I couldn't find them under "Database"!?!?! Soooo I went back and contributed everything one more time and everything came up! Hooray!  Thank you Kevin and 8ballmax for the help. Thanks to everyone for their horror stories - I'm glad to hear others are miserable, paranoid, frustrated, etc. too!   It's comforting to know I'm not crazy...well maybe just a little!

Two caveats... when you Withdraw your submission goes *poof* but it leaves the Contribution Notes behind so it's not a completely clean Withdraw process.  I wish it would since generally you're withdrawing because you made a mistake and I wish I could remove the evidence!    Second, you do not need to Withdraw your submission first to resubmit a change for something you're fixing.  You can just resubmit over top of the one that is there.  This will double up the Contribution Notes (nothing you can really do about that since it happens even with Withdraws) and it will reset any previous votes.

About this "disappeared" thing... is this supposed to happen:

You submit a contribution to an entry that is already in the database.

Later, you attempt to resubmit the information (without withdrawing) thinking that you may have made a possible error, but then decide you actually hadn't, so you don't click "Submit".

You then go and look under "Contributions" and the entry still shows there but has been cleared, i.e. "Received" and "Votes" are gone and blank.

Is this a bug, or is there actually some perplexing purpose to it?

Yes, that will mess things up and actually is good possible explaination for the disappearing entries.  If you do the above, when you get to the screen where you enter contribution notes, if you simply close the window it will leave an "empty" submission left in the system.  You actually have to click on the "Cancel" button to remove the submission.  But like you said above, if you submitted, then go to resubmit because you thought you made an error, but then realize you were correct and click the "Cancel" button you are in essence wiping out your original submission (I'm pretty sure).  Somebody would need to test that to be sure, but from my experience with the system that is how it would work.

I'm aware of this behaviour, and while I can't speak for others, I'm absolutely sure that this wasn't the case with my own "disappearances".
