I like creating new layouts for different purposes but sometimes it's very difficult because when we change the size/position of a window the program often changes the size of the surrounding ones.

Would it be possible to add a "Pin" button in the window title that we could use to "Lock" the position and size of windows so they would not longer change when we work on other parts of a layout ?

I like this, would also be useful to keep windows from disapearing when i click in the wrong spot on them. Would be nice to lock individual windows and the complete layout.

If it can be done, I'd love it too

There's a trick I learned.
There's actually a difference between floating windows and windows which are individual panes of the same main window. Darned if I can explain how it works, but when designing a layout, boxes will stay in place if they are all simply different sections of one large window. You can have it so you can drop a new section into one large moveable window and simply drag the borders until you get everything in its desired spot. The key is probably to pay close attention to the cursor's appearance when you drop a new section in to an existing window. This way you only have one large window filling the right side of the layout instead of many different floating windows. It's complicated, but once you've figured it, you'll have greater control over the the alignment and permanent placement of each section.

But I like your idea Touti; it avoids having to use this trick, and people can use the layout function however they choose.

One thing I'd like to see for layout editing is an "Undo" button.

Another good feature would be to auto-tile each window in the layout instantly.

I think the request for partial locking is based on this:

In my center section I have four windows above each other (General, Features, Audio and Overview). Changing the height of Overview is also changing the the height of the top two, not obly of Audio... So, getting all four to the desired size is a painful task.

You're right ya_shin but there's a little more to it.  Set your top windows to the size you want and then add a 5th one at the bottom, there's a good chance that the size of the top window will change.  Yesterday I was trying to create a new layout based on Ken's Banner idea.  The height of the banner would change almost every time I added windows under it.  Then I make my "Feautures" window big enough to see all the icons in it but everytime I snapped another window on it, it would change size again.

It became so frustrating having to re-adjust many windows every time I moved one, I finally dropped it and never finished my layout.
