| Posted: | | | | I am in the process of doing the child profiles for Family Guy Season One have come up against a little problem when i tried to upload the disc one profile it came up against another profile for the complete season that as been assigned to the disc id i PM'ed the person who had done the profile and this was the response. Quote: I own the season 1-3 boxset and the individual seasons each have their own keep case but they have no EAN, so each season has been added to the database as disc ID profiles.
The rules now say we can add a profile for each disc. However, the same disc id is needed for the season profile so you can't have both.
It might be worth asking in the forum whether the disc id should be used for the season or for the individual disc. So here i am asking the question. What do you think, should i upload the profile and overwrite the existing or should i keep it local only. This will also happen with disc one from the second season both disc two's should go through no problem. |

| Posted: | | | | It has been pointed out in recent debate that the "multiple complete season/series" sets "CAN" be set as box sets with children, but need not necessarily be so. Likewise a single-season TV set CAN have children, but again need not necessarily be so. The multiple season part of the rules is longer established, so it could be argued to have priority. However, in instances such as this it is going to be the individual sets' child profiles that have the earlier release date on it, so that goes in its favour, as well as the fact that more people are more likely to own this edition than a complete set. Trouble is, you can't just say to have individual child profiles without removing the "complete multiple series" box set rule completely and shifting entirely to child profiles (which I personally would like but of course would find wide opposition to). So, muddy muddy muddy!
I'd recommend a poll on this, since I can see this being an issue I will have to deal with myself as well in the near-future and I'd like to see firm opinions. |

| Posted: | | | | It's right that the disc ID really belongs to disc 1 only as the single season came out first. However I'm also loathe to recommend removing data from a profile. In this case I think it's best to leave your profile local. If others want the info, they can easily download the full season profile and delete the extra episodes. Just submit disc 2 as normal. |

| Posted: | | | | Your running into the same issue as we have with several Complete Series Sets. Where the first disc ID was used to create the season. But, when Ken allowed child profiles for TV seasons most of these got overwritten with just the data that is on these discs.
Did the season release come out before the seasons 1-3 set come out? And is the season 1 disc 1 ID the same as the one packaged in the seasons 1-3 set? If your answer is yes to both then I would say it is safe to overwrite the season 1 disc ID data with what is just in the child. | | | Are you local? I think the answer is yes to both questions IF i do upload the profile of course the people who have the disc will get to vote yes or no to it. The other thing to take into account is that even if the info assigned to the disc is overwritten the information would not be lost as it is available on EAN 5-039036-007801 |

| Posted: | | | | The main thing is someone will need to contribute the additional disc IDs that are included with the season 1-3 set to the box set contents of that DVD profile. | | | Are you local?
