Ken has stated many times in these forums in various ways that he does not want DVD Profiler in any way to have anything to do with IMDB or any other third party database. The simple answer is that it is possible but, it will NEVER happen. Unless he buys it. OH GOD the horror of that thought.

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, while it's arguable whether data about films something IMDB can claim an ownership interest in, there seems little doubt to me that their ratings would be something they can solidly claim they own. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

OK Skip you can tremble all you want now... You might want to read Ken's statements again. Third party information is NOT to be contributed and make part of the online DB ( my emphasis). Ratings are not contributed and they don't get into the database so I don't where there would be a problem. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W | | | Last edited: by Touti |

| Posted: | | | | The difference is that linking to the IMDB site is fine. But scraping off the data (including the rating) is verboten. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

Touti I copied this from IMDB terms of use which is what I sent to Ken sometime ago when Intervocative was still in the picture.

The legal way I understand it IMDB polls (i.e. ratings) are data compilations.
gardibolt is correct.
