How do I quote a part of a posting? I know how to quote the entire posting (yeah for me!) but sometimes I only want to quote a small section.

How do I add something to a posting that will allow the reader to click on it and go to another site? Sometimes someone asks a question that has been answered in another thread and I don't know how to have the reader access that info by "click here".

Is there a good resource to understand the terminology used in invelos? Believe it or not I don't know what "pinned", "tags", "flags" etc. exactly mean and what/how they can be used to get the most out of them. I finally figured out what LOL means!  If one isn't familiar with the abbreviations, it is hard to figure them out - pc may mean personal computer to some but to a health care professional it means after meals!

Finally, be kind - my 6 year old niece is more compter savvy than me!

Click on the quote button. Delete the part you don't want by highlighting it and pressing the delete button.

This one is pretty simple.  I just quote the whole thing and then delete out the parts I don't want.  All you have to keep is the blockquote with brackets around it at the beginning and the slash blockquote with brackets at the end.

To do this, type the text that you want to be the link. For example "Click Here".  Then highlight the text and click on the link button above the editing window. (It looks sorta like a planet with a chain link in front of it). That will bring up a box asking for the url you want to link to.  Type it in there and that's that.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable than me handle the rest...

To quote only a specific part of a post you simply delete everything you don't want, that is contained between the [ blockquote ] [ / blockquote] tags.  When doing so, the 'preview' button is your friend.

To insert a clickable link, open the page you want to send them to in a different browser window.  Copy the link from the address bar.  Highlight the word you want to make clickable and then press the little button 'link button' (it is above the window you are typing in and looks like a ball with a chain link).  That should open a window that you will paste your link into.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: I am SOOOOO slow.  Nice to see we still have some helpful people around these parts.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

To do a partial quote, just click the button and remove any text that you don't want. All text has to be between a (blockquote) and the beginning and a (/blockquote) at the end. I'm using () there which have to be changed to [ ] in order to function properly.

Type some text, highlight it, and click the button and insert the link that you want to link to.

I don't think there's a resource, but:
Pinned is when a thread is set up to always show at the top of a forum. This is usually because it has important stuff to know, but won't get a lot of activity.

Tags are a custom feature in the program that allow you to track all sorts of information that's only for your use. They aren't uploaded to the main database. Read more about them here.

Flags are activated using the button to the left of each title in the title window of the program. It's the little empty box. Click it and a check mark appears. That title is now "Flagged". See your "Collection" menu for "Flags" and "Flagged".

You can save "Flag Sets". One cool one that I've just done is to flag all of the profiles for which I need new scans. After I flagged them all, I went to Collection / Flags / Save Set. When I'm ready to do scans, I go to Collection / Flags / Load Set and I choose one of the flagged entries and a do a scan. When I finish the scan, I uncheck the Flag and then do Collection / Flags / Save Set again.

You can have flags for all sorts of personal mini-groupings.

Oh, come on. You know we don't ignore the smallest thing here.

Here's the link you tried:
http://www.invelos.com/www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=172605

It's just that somehow, an extra piece got in there:
http://www.invelos.com/www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=172605

Take that out, and you're good to go:

Kudos for trying to include a smiley in your link. That's very advanced!
