| Posted: | | | | Is it possible to edit the same information on multiple profiles at once?
For example, I have imported 800+ DVD entries into my collection and want to add a location for each of them, but it is incredibly tedious to have to double-click on each title in my collection, browse to the Personalize section, manually type in the Location, and then click OK before moving onto the other 799 titles. I would think that there would be some way to select/flag multiple titles, and then type in the Location and have it apply to all of the selected titles.
Also, is there any way to move from editing one movie's profile to the next/previous movie profile without having to exit the editing window? I have a lot of DVDs that need the sort titles changed, and all are in a row, but I need to double-click into each one at a time. A lot of time could be saved by editing one and then clicking/typing a command to move to the information of the next title in the collection without having to exit out to my main Profiler screen.
Any help will be very appeciated. Thanks!

| Posted: | | | | No, profile data can only edited one-by-one.
I believe the only information that can be edited for several DVDs at the same time is the Watched data. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

I appreciate the response and now wonder if there's any chance that this feature will be revised at some point? |

| Posted: | | | | Not likely, it relates directly to the Online Database and Contributed data. Speaking personally, if you were able to do this and suddenly bombed the Online with 100 Contributions all at once I would look at them very carefully and if i found anything wrong i would vote No, probably on the lot of them. there are reasons for thse thngs that may not be readily apparent unless you sit and really think about the interaction of the program.

I believe the only information that can be edited for several DVDs at the same time is the Watched data. You can also edit locks on "all flagged" profiles at once. But the profile data.....no. | | | Hal |

One profile at a time is the safe way! | | | Chris | | | Last edited: by Mole |

| Posted: | | | | I didn't think that any of the information from the Personalize section of a movie profile ever got contributed to the online server and so a multiple profile edit for that section shouldn't cause a problem. But I am new to this and could be very, very wrong.
My problem is that I have my movies organized by certain genre on my shelves and wanted to list these under the Location section. Instead, I have just decided to set them as tags. Not as elegant in my opinion, but I suppose it gets the job done and I can do a multiple edit on them that way.
Now while it may be problematic to perform a multiple edit to profiles, I do not see having a button to skip between movie profiles to be as troublesome. For example, I have '24' on DVD and would like to apply a Sort Title to each set so that the seasons are always sorted in correct order. It becomes tedious to have to double-click on each one, browse to the profile section, change its title, then click "OK". Is there something in the software that would prevent having a button near the bottom that just skips to the next profile in the collection, thus saving a lot of extra clicking?
Please know that I have appreciated all the responses so far. I am currently an owner of Collectorz Movie Collector and because I am so used to their software, I may be somewhat blinded to the potential of DVDProfiler. I am asking these questions because I am seriously contemplating a switch to DVDProfiler, but want to be sure I fully understand the perks and limitations of the software.
Thanks for your help! |

I think you will find that Profiler is flat out the best program of this type out there, it has shortcoming...show me a program that doesn't. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! I've got a similar problem. I can important all my titles (close to 500) and would have to update one by one on personalize section ... Until i find an easy way to do this, I can't use it it fully. Filip |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, it would be very handy to be able to move between profiles without leaving edit/personalise. Handy for doing TV series too, if you need to double check something on a different profile. I believe the request to able to move between DVDs within the edit/personalise screens has already been made in the Feature Requests forum a short while back - why not track down the topic and give it your support? |

| Posted: | | | | Skip taught me how to use tags couple years back. So what I did was made a html page called Location.html
Then copy this code:
<HTML> <HEAD> <tr valign="top"><td class="ch" align="right" width="85">Location:</td><td class="cstval"><DP NAME="DISCS" ShowSlots="YES" ShowLocations="YES"></td></tr> <STYLE type="text/css"> <!-- .f1 { font-family: Arial; color: white; font-size: 18pt} .f2 { font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 9pt } .f3 { font-weight: Bold; font-family: Arial; color: navy; font-size: 9pt } .f4 { font-weight: Bold; font-family: Arial; color: white; font-size: 9pt } --> </STYLE> <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> <!-- <DP NAME="HEADER_VARS" Language="JavaScript" Comments="True" IncludeCast="False" IncludeCrew="False" bgcolor="#B2CDF1"> //--> </SCRIPT>
</HEAD> <BODY> <body leftmargin=8 topmargin=5 rightmargin=8 bottommargin=0 bgcolor="#B2CDF1">
</BODY> </HTML>
Then I added this panel to the window where gerenal info, notes etc are. I then made tags for each profile or database example one tag I got is DJ Box 1 so I can search for DJ Box 1 and all location # matches with that box.
Ctrl-f click on tags and edit allows you to add tags. Now when you add a dvd under personal setting just click the tag you want assign to the dvd.
DJ Box 1 will end at 920 I believe (1000 disc box but doubt I can put 1000 in the box) then when I buy another it will be DJ box 2,3,4, etc.
This is the easy way of doing mulit-profiles I know if you click of discs it will show you the location but I find having a location tab faster to locate stuff. | | | Last edited: by Randall_Lind |
