I would have to say while I see some merit here. We have users who don't check their votes now, and then come to the forums wanting to know why they were declined or making Feature requests to be notified why they were declined. IF we narrow the voting down, then the user is far less likely to learn from his mistake, after all it's just one piece of data out of how much? So I still favor all or nothing in the interest of educating users to do things by the Rules.

Not to mention the fact it would create  more work for Ken & Gerri when screening, as they'd have to pick and choose which bits to accept/decline. Likely to see more incorrect declines/accepts than currently, even  if they used a checkbox system.

What an attitude.  I would prefer to have Ken and gerri working on the future of the program than to tie up ALL of their time trying to sort out votes.

Well it is part of their job to approve/decline contributions, so so what if it's more work for them.

I don't see how it would cause more incorrect declines/accepts, I think the opposite. It would make them look at all contributions more carefully and would make the database better. Right now it seems that they don't really look very closely at contributions at all.

But that's just MO.

I'd like to see you do even 1/10 as well as they do on approvals.  If the users paid more attention and followed the rules more closely they wouldn't have to work as hard and probably wouldn't  make as many mistakes or oversights.  This whole thing is a group operation, and it don't sound like you want to pull your own weight.

You really have no idea about the sheer volume of contributions do you?

Personally I've yet to see any job description for Ken and Gerri, certainly never seen anything that says they must screen all profile submissions to the nth degree.

Try applying a bit of practicality and real world thinking once in a while.

It was (some of) the users who asked for the rules and the voting mechanism. Of course there is then an onus on us to use these correctly.

And I repeat you clearly have no concept of the number of submissions they get so have no idea of how much extra work would be required to approve contributions.

Any successful business of any size has to use what resources it has in the most efficient way it can. You're suggestion would take that resource away from doing other things, such as updating the program.

As for you following me, bear in mind Invelos do not own most of the titles we are voting on, this combined with the volume means they will not always accept/decline correctly, but they certainly cannot look at them in the same detail, as those of us who do own them have the option to do.

As I said try to understand the broader picture and weigh up the whole idea, not just a narrow part of it.

I think that everyone has a right to speak their mind and voice their opinions - that's what a good debate is all about. How boring things would be if everyone had the same opinion! Debating allows me to get a better, clearer picture of the issues discussed in these forums - I've learned a lot & enjoyed many a laugh!  So keep contributing - voice your opinion - and let the debating begin!

I have to agree that voting on parts would increase the workload for everybody. I do however feel that some small feedback would be very helpfull with declined contributions. This way we can better learn from our mistakes, just to quote Skip.

I've seen in other posts users had the same issues with contributions. I've had profiles accepted with almost as many no votes as yes votes, on the other hand I've had profiles with all yes votes declined. It would be helpful to know which section is in error. This will allow you to more easily make the necessary corrections.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Do you look at your votes? We are required to leave notes when we vote No, or do you just Contribute and forget it.

Yep Skip, I always review the no votes. If I made a mistake I will gladly take advice. If possible, I will correct the error even before the profile is declined, by resubmitting with the requested modifications.
I had no votes for adding dividers for crew. I didn't have the crew data so I just provided the dividers in case someone would add those details, they were already in place. The funny thing is, these profiles were accepted. I posted some other profiles that all received yes votes, and they were declined. I don't have any clue what was wrong with those. I submitted them again today, since I believe my data is correct.
