Note that this in fact could also be used to detect bogus submissions. Suppose I submitted a DVD with the wrong UPC. Later I notice my fault and change the UPC. The wrong submission will stay in the masterdatabase indefinitely now...
If a profile was not 'accessed' for e.g. a year, it may well be that no one has that profile in his database anymore. And with accessed, I mean that the client asked the server if there was an update (although I'm not exactly sure that this is how it works today) even if there was no update.

And would be even more fancy, now that I think of it, is that you could see the users who have a lot of DVDs in common with yourself, and see what DVDs they have that you don't yet. As a result, we could find people with similar intrests and as a result maybe detect new interesting DVDs. A bit like how last.fm works with music.
