I searched and didn't see this mentioned, but has anyone ever brought up the ability to make comment responses to votes on contributions?

So if someone votes No and gives some reason or if they ask a question, the contributer (or anyone really) could then respond to that?  Display it like a tree under their vote.  I would say keep the same text limit that's currently in there.  We wouldn't want it to replace the forums or allow arguments to go back and forth.  Just allow a basic comment/response system if there's a question about a submission.  It wouldn't even be retained anywhere as once the submission is accepted or declined all the messages are destroyed.

you could try a polite Private Message
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

As the contributor, I'd like to submit a 'public reply' to any no vote. Sure you might pm the no voter, but assuming your contribution is fine, they might not remove it. So, it would allow you to add another comment without withdrawing and resubmitting.

If this is ever done, I think it should be limited to allow only 1 reply from the contributor to a "No" vote.  The system should not allow for the voter and contributor to keep replying to each other.  This would only turn the voting system into and endless list of flaming replies that everyone would have to see.

I would also suggest that the "Reason for vote" and "Reply" field are kept short enough to be displayed side by side so the list of votes will not get longer because of replies using extra lines.

Sounds like what is needed is to let the contributor make a "rebuttal" comment.  I'd have this show in the list of votes along with the "no" votes.  This could help people decide who is right or why the contributor wanted to make the changes he did.  We all know that some NO votes are invalid.

Touti is right about limiting the number of times a contributor could reply, however.  Also that the comments should be kept short.

I agree.  Even on eBay they allow a rebuttal comment if you get negative feedback.  In my experience, if the guy is a jerk that is readily apparent, and only serves to reinforce proper behavior.
