I'm currently reviewing my database and adding the child profiles for box sets. However, I'm having issues with adding by Disk ID.
E.g. I wanted to add the disks from The Godfather Collection. But when I inserted the disk, DVD Profiler either added a disk from a totally different locality (e.g. Norway) or said the disk was not available yet. However, when I simply added by Title, I could add those disks for locality Netherlands and they had exactly the Disk ID of the disk that was inserted.
Anyone else having similar issues ?

BTW, apparently this is not happening for all disks. It surely happened for all disks of The Godfather collection. No idea why... maybe a hickup in my client and/or dvd-rom driver ?

not all profiles have all the correct Disc-ID
select dutch profile
edit this profile and add your Disc-ID
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Please read my original post .
The profile did have the correct Disk ID in Locality Netherlands.
Again, this is what I did:
* insert "The Godfather"
* DVD Profiler prompted me that the profile is available online
* I clicked Yes to have that profile downloaded, however it was a profile from Norway with SRP in skr (?).
* I then went to the Add DVD by Title to look up what was available in Locality Netherlands.
* Low and behold: my disk is available online as a profile with Disk ID, exactly the Disk ID that I had.
* So I added that one instead...
Same happened with "The Godfather: Part II" where actually I got a profile from Norway with translated title. I clicked No since this was not the profile I wanted.
Same happened with "The Godfather: Bonus Disc" except that here DVD Profiler said that it was not available and asked me to add it manually.

BTW, to be sure I had the correct disk ID, I just went to Change UPC... and there again copied the Disk ID but it was the same as the original one.

Well, I tried to reproduce it and it is reproducible.
I removed 'The Godfather' from my collection. Inserted the disk, and Profiler prompts me that the profile for this disk is available online. I chose Yes and I then see that the profile that is added to my database is the one from Norway.
I remove it again, try to go the menus and do Add DVD by Disk ID explicitly, but the same profile is downloaded. I then remove it again, but do Add DVD by Title (filtering on Locality Netherlands) and there I see 'The Godfather' with exactly the same Disk ID. I add it.
To be certain that it's the same one, I go to Change UPC and have profiler copy the Disk ID from the inserted disk. Then I try to contribute my profile and Profiler says there are no changes detected. So surely the Disk IDs matched.

However, what I noticed now is that the profile from Norway has a UPC instead of Disk ID as identifier. So I think there may be a bug that when you try to add by Disk ID it only looks for UPC-identified profiles and doesn't find the DiskID-identified profiles. This would also explain why the bonus disk is not even found when I try to add by Disk ID.
On the other hand, I'm almost certain that I have added other disks by ID that also did not have a UPC, and that that worked correctly (I'm thinking of the Brigitte Bardot collection disks).

Another update that shows there's something weird going on with these Godfather disks.
I now have the Netherlands profile. But when I insert the disk, DP does not recognize it as being this profile. Normally DP automatically jumps to the profile for the selected this. But not this time.
So I then go to Edit for that Netherlands profile, and update/change the Disk ID (i.e. just click 'Set') but nothing seems to change so I guess the Disk ID was already the one from the inserted disk. I then go to UPC and there also want to change the UPC to the Disk ID of the inserted disk. The ID that is automatically filled in by DP is exactly the same as what was already there. In both edits I click OK anyway.
But even then, DP does not find this profile when I re-insert this disk. And when I go to Add Disk by Disk ID it again gives me the Norway profile...

UPC = EAN code, only change this if the barcode is different
the update has to be accepted, when you contribute a disc-id on same EAN, takes 2 to 3 days before noticeable in online DB

Repter, I think I'm having the same problem. I posted it here.

I think what the problem is that when you add by disc ID, the program picks the first profile it finds, but it doesn't tell you that there are other options.
Until this is fixed, I think your only option is to make a note of the disc Id, then search by title and try and match the ID and locality manually.

I don't think you understand... I wonder if you ever contributed box sets .
The individual disks of a box set cannot be entered by UPC=EAN=barcode for the simple reason they don't have one. Those have to be entered by Disk ID, which is foreseen by DVD Profiler (just go to: DVD | Change UPC... and if you have a disk inserted in your DVD-ROM you can check that checkbox to use the disk's ID as sort of an alternative UPC).
So again, it is not a matter of contributing. I don't need to contribute them, because they are already in the master database. Just try: Add DVD by Title and choose Locality Netherlands. You'll see that all Godfather disks are there and that they are identified by DiskID. This is all correct. What is not correct is that DVD Profiler does not recognize my own disks even though they do have the DiskIDs that are already present in those profiles in the master database. If I enter my own disks in the DVD-ROM, DVD Profiler comes up with either the wrong profiles (i.e. for the wrong Locality) or no profile at all.
The weird thing is that it's only a problem for my Godfather disks. Not for other box set disks (e.g. Brigitte Bardot collection, Ginger Snaps collection, etc...).
I wonder if the same thing happens with other people having this box set.

At last someone who understands my problem .
BTW, I also was assuming that explanation first. Until I got that Bonus Materials disk for which Profiler said there was no profile and offered to add it manually. Yet, the master database does contain that disk with the same DiskID as my disk.
So it's not that simple...

Same problem here too!
I've just tried it using the "Beyond Jurassic Park" disc. I removed mine from my collection, stuck the disc in the drive and asked it to scan. It says it can't recognise the disc and asks me if I want to add it manually.
I can even have the disc selected on the "add by title" page (where it's very easy to find), and the "add by disc" page will still say it doesn't recognise the disc!
I think there's definitely some bugs in the "add by disc" section of the program!
