| Posted: | | | | I've got some DVD's with 15 digit UPC's (Secrets of World War II Collection), but when I try to contribute the profiles I get an error message telling me that the UPC is unrecognizable and that I have to check it.
Do I ignore the UPC and contribute with Disc ID, or is there an alternate way? | | | Berak

Could it be that the manufacturer simply added "01" for the first disc? What is the UPC of the other titles? Consecutive numbers? Could you provide a scan (at least 200dpi) of the barcode? We barcode-scanner-users could give it a run to see what the barcode really consists. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

cya, Mithi 5-701862-000782 is the same on every volume of the collection, so you are probably right in assuming that the '01', '02', '03' and so forth is added as a way to seperate the individual titles in the collection. Eh - at risk of seeming stupid, but how do I insert an image/scan? Berak | | | Berak

You would have to host the image elsewhere (your own site, an image hosting service like imageshack.us) and then use the image button while editing your post to insert the link to the image... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | Quoting Berak: Quote: Barcode Yes, its an EAN with an extra 2 digits. Usually I would say just ignore the last 2 numbers, as they are (visually and logically) not part of the EAN. Is this a Boxset of some kind or are the discs sold seperately? In both cases the addition via DiscID would be the wised course of action. If it is a boxset, the 13 diget EAN could go to the parent-profile. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | It's called EAN/UPC Extension and Mithi is right, they're not part of the code itself. They are usually used by manufacturers to differentiate products that are similar and that they sell under the same upc. As Mithi said, just ignore the last 2 digits. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks guys. I'll just use the Disc ID's for the separate volumes and the 13 digit EAN/UPC for the parent profile then(although the discs are sold separately). | | | Berak
