| Posted: | | | | ...asked this before, never got an answer - how can I strip off all collection numbers - I can renumber, but not set globally to "none", so that I have a blank column on my online DB.
search found nada. |

Just as an aside, why do you want to set them all to none? Are they that annoying even if you don't use them (you can always remove the column displaying them even if they exist) | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | ...yeah, they are kinda annoying and arbitrary, and there's no way of removing them from online (as far as I can see)
The problem was that I "accidentally" numbered a few of them, then tried to renumber to none, and of course simply gave numbers to all of them.
I may be alone, but I've never needed a specific number for my discs, and with the collection particularly in flux as some are sold/upgraded to HD-DVD/BD, the numbers are even less important to me. It seems like a less than trivial thing to add to the renumbering scheme a "remove personalization" or some such, but I guess that's for a feature req., not a tech support question. Like many things with the new software, it takes some getting used to, and quite a few features are a bit more hidden than others.
If there is a way, or if Ken wants to chime in, that'd be splendid. Still, thanks V for your thoughts. |

| Posted: | | | | If it's only a "few" records you addicentally renumbered, you can manually change the collection number to "none" one at a time, as Voltaire said. When you next upload to My Profiler, you should have no collection numbers showing. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

| Posted: | | | | I personally also don't understand why you absolutely want the numbers to be all gone. If they're all gone, your online collection will still show the Collection Number column but without any contents. That will look sillier than to have numbers there that don't mean a thing to you. All I can think of is that you don't want people to see how many DVDs you have without counting them.
I think it makes more sense to have a feature requests for the online list to be able to choose the columns you see, such that in your case you can hide the Collection # column. |

FWIW if you remove them locally and upload they are removed from online (check out my collection and note the un-numbered ones that I use for Boxsets and those that I intend to sell)
At least locally you can remove the column with the numbers in so the only place it shows is in the General Info and it's not too intrusive. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
