Every time I open profiler, an additional DVD appears at the top of the list out of alpha order |

| Posted: | | | | For some years now, the first DVD in my list is '10 Things I Hate About You'. I always view my collection by title/ascending (ie, numbers first then A-Z).
On Sunday I downloaded new Profiler, and happily played all afternoon. Opened again on Monday and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was at the top of the list above 10 Things. Everything else remained in correct alphabetical order. Could not do anything to make it move back to its proper spot. The Sort Title space is blank. I even tried copying the exact title and pasting it into the sort title space - no effect, so I blanked it out again.
Today (Tuesday) opened again and Moonwalker has appeared at the top along with Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, then 10 Things, followed by everything else in correct order.
I am a bit concerned that if this keeps happening every day, after a while I will not be able to work out where anything is as the order will be totally random!
Have I done something weird or could this be a glitch?

| Posted: | | | | I'm pretty sure the problem is with Sort Title, when the field is empty, the DVD's will come first. After you have changed the sort title, you have to change the sorting way (i.e. from ascending to descending) which will refresh the list. | | | Last edited: by whispering |

Agreed; I susepct the problem is that when you changed the sort title you didn't refresh it (it wasn't necessary to do so on 2.4; I think it's a small bug in 3.0). As Whispering says, you can do this by changing the sorting method or just view (say) your wishlist and then come back to the owned (and the owned will then be re-sorted using the Sort Titls you've just added). | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | You were right.
What appears to have happened is that the new program has added sort titles to every DVD in my collection, even though didn't previously have them - I only use them for box sets so they appear in the right order on-line.
I must have blanked the sort title on those two discs when editing them, not realising that I now need to have sort titles for all.
Phew!!!
Thanks for your advice. |

Yea, also when you start makign a profile from scratch, it doesnt add a sort title automatically. | | | Last edited: by whispering |

It does for me; it copies the title into the Sort Title box... IIRC there were a few oddities like this with early versions but not with the more recent ones. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
