| Posted: | | | | What's This?A plugin that lets you import a list of UPCs from a text file. Just point to Import UPC List on the Tools menu, click Import From File, then select the file containing the UPCs. The plugin creates an empty profile with the title "*** Imported UPC <number>" for each UPC in the file. The plugin will never overwrite existing profiles - UPCs for them are simply ignored. A detailed description of the input file format is available further down below. To download actual data for the newly added profiles, click Refresh Updated Profiles on the Online menu. After that, you have to fix the sort titles for the downloaded profiles. To do so, point to Import UPC List on the Tools menu, then click Fix Sort Titles. RequirementsDVD Profiler 3.0 (Invelos).Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP or newer.Import File FormatUPCs are imported from an ANSI text file. Each UPC must be on a new line. Hyphens within an UPC are allowed, space characters aren't. A locality number, separated by a dot, may be appended to an UPC. Arbitrary text may follow the UPC, if it is separated by at least a single space character. To specify a common locality for all subsequent UPCs, place a dot followed by the locality number on a new line. To add all subsequent UPCs to a specific collection, place either "Owned", "Ordered", or "WishList" on a single line. By default UPCs are added to the Wish List. Example: Owned // Add subsequent UPCs to this collection 634991316729 // Add UPC with default locality 0 (USA) 5050582424560.4 // Add UPC with locality 4 (UK) .5 // Use locality 5 (Germany) for subsequent UPCs 4006680020860 // Implicit .5 4-010324-020840 // Implicit .5, hyphens are allowed WishList // Add subsequent UPCs to this collection .2 // Use locality 2 (Australia) for subsequent UPCs 5050582448627 // Implicit .2 Known IssuesThe install.cmd may not work on Windows Vista. In this case, open a command prompt as administrator, switch to the folder containing the unzipped files, and type regsvr32 ImportUPC.dll to register the plugin.Version 1.0.0 is now available. The install.cmd may not work on Windows Vista. In this case, open a command prompt as administrator, switch to the folder containing the unzipped files, and type regsvr32 ImportUPC.dll to register the plugin. [ A right click and select "Run as administrator" should work just fine ;-)). I am a batch file freak, I write them for just about everything. | | | Premium member since 29 August 2002 ----

Users of both my other plugins stated that the right-click method didn't work, but the manual regsvr32 in an admin command prompt window succeeded. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Hey! Since you're good with plugins, could you make one that lets the user highlight the title and provide a GUI point-and-click lookup to create a hotlink to a DVD on disk? I've been wanting ot do that for years! VAN |

No, it isn't a dumb question. I'm just too familiar with this stuff. These are the locality numbers as defined in DVDProfiler's localities.dod. They can get expanded (but not changed) whenever you refresh the online list from Invelos. The current list is: 32 Argentina 2 Australia 40 Austria 30 Belgium 23 Brazil 3 Canada 19 Canada (Quebec) 6 China 36 Czech Republic 14 Denmark 45 Estonia 16 Finland 7 Former Soviet Union 8 France 5 Germany 41 Greece 21 Hong Kong 34 Hungary 26 Iceland 39 India 27 Indonesia 44 Ireland 24 Israel 13 Italy 17 Japan 18 Korea 37 Malaysia 25 Mexico 9 Netherlands 1 New Zealand 12 Norway 43 Philippines 29 Poland 15 Portugal 35 Singapore 33 Slovakia 20 South Africa 10 Spain 11 Sweden 22 Switzerland 28 Taiwan 38 Thailand 31 Turkey 4 United Kingdom (none) United States 42 Vietnam | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks. I hadn't triggered this was a DVDP specific list. I had been looking for some subdivision of the (in)famous regions. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Hi, I have a problem with the plugin.
I can import the UPC list - no problem.
When I click on 'Online -> Refresh Online profile list' a screen flashes up (too quick to see what's inside) but that may be because I've done it a few times now.
Then I click 'Tools -> Fix sort titles' I get an error message saying "No fixable sort titles have been found. The command will work *after* you have refreshed the imported profiles with data from the Invelos Online DB."
But if I click 'Online -> Refresh updated profiles from Invelos' I get "All DVD profiles are up to date" and I click the 'Fix sort titles' again and get the same error message. -"No fixable sort titles have been found. The command will work *after* you have refreshed the imported profiles with data from the Invelos Online DB."
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe the imported UPCs are not in the online DB, or at least not for the locality you assigned to them.
You can try to refresh one of those imported UPCs individually via Online -> Refresh DVD from Invelos -> Refresh Profile and Images. If the profile does not exist, DVDPro will give an "unable to download" error message. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Strange, it comes up with the 'unable to download' error. But we're talking about films like 'the iron giant, waterworld, x-men 2' etc, so I would have thought they'd be there :s
How would I change the localtiy you mention? I'm in the UK BTW.
All the titles are showing up as *** Imported UPC 5050582427080 for example. I've tried 'fix sort titles', but this doesn't work either. I'm convinced it's something I'm doing wrong as no one else seems to be having these problems on the forum.
BTW I'm using 3.0.3 of dvd profiler. |

| Posted: | | | | True, but if I cut the number from the title, then add it seperately as a new DVD through the add dvd option, it finds it no problems. - so I don't think it's that.
Could it be someway the plugin is translating the UPC code? |

A bit confusing that EAN (where E means "European") is the world standard, while UPC (where U means "Universal") is just a subset of the standard. | Posted: | | | | You have to specify the locality in your import file. The default locality is US. That's probably why it doesn't find your UPC.
To specify the UK locality either append ".4" (without the quotes) to your UPC or put ".4" on a separate line before all UPCs that should have the UK locality, e.g.
.4 5050582427080 ...
Refer to the first post in this thread for the description of the input file format. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | My mistake, sorry I should have noticed it was an EAN. Goodguy mentioned the correct solution.
Croomsby,
It helps a little if you add your country flag from the My profile page. | | | Brian |
