| Posted: | | | | As some of you already know, Hollywood is at it again. "M*A*S*H: Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" has been released and the bonus disc has it's own keep case with it's own graphics and cover.
Typically, we have disallowed all bonus disc contributions but we knew this day would come and I'm sure we can expect more releases like this one. So, let's hear it.
Yes = All - I want them all. Let's do them all.
No = None - Zero - I don't want any of them profiled.
Depends = For certain one's, I would like to see it. Explain in your post | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, whatever the "consensus" ends up being, I will not profile bonus discs at all. I don't see that as important information, and I'm not interested in knowing whether this or that movie has this many bonus disc, etc. And that's not counting the fact that it would end up making most movies a box set, with child profiles.
I can understand it for special bonus content only releases (King Kong's production diaries come to mind), but I wouldn't do it for standard movie release, with bonus discs, or that MASH release you reference.
That's just my 2¢ | | | Last edited: by RossRoy |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, we definitely should. That said, we need a method in the Program to be able to describe the Features far more specifically than we do now.
I envision a system which would include the generics we currently use. But would allow the users to create Custom data based on the Actual data from the disc, the user would then inform the program that this custom data was for this disc ONLY, this way it would not be populated with the Generics.

| Posted: | | | | I think if the "Bonus Disc" comes in it's own and seperate case then their should be a profile for it.
But if it's contained in the same case as the parent, then no it shouldn't get a profile. |

Go back and re-read my post. I just re-read both posts and agree with John. The bonus disc for the sets he references are already in (at least the sets I have). If you have a box set with a separate bonus disc in it's own keep case we have been adding those by disc ID for some time now. I would support continuing to do it. If you are talking about adding the bonus disc on every "2 disk special edition" for example then I am against it. | | | Last edited: by lyonsden5 |

| Posted: | | | | For the sake of consistency, they should in reality be treated no differently, Rick. But even dismissing that for the moment, with the current Bonus data we have no way to adequately describe what the content of these "special" bonus discs are. But that is Ken's problem. I can only see the problem and suggest a possible method. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

I have. So? You are talking about individually packaged bonus discs, and so am I. I made no such assertion. The question is completely open. Should we profile bonus discs or not, or the third option, in-effect says, depends on the circumstances. I also placed a qualifier in the statement; " TYPICALLY, we have disallowed all bonus disc contributions but we knew this day would come and I'm sure we can expect more releases like this one." I'm not trying to be rude but please, re-read my post. This time take it for what is there instead of what you want to add to it. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

| Posted: | | | | johnd, the simple answer is that profiles for bonus discs in a boxset that cover several different films, as in your examples, are allowed. i believe this one is a t'twister because it's a single episode (or, film if you will) with a separately packaged, individually designed bonus disc case. as for a solution...what was the question? [he'll be back] okay... even though in my home database if have a lot of bonus disc separated out, i'd like to slit my throat because i can't make up my mind. right this second, do it for this special release and don't mess with the way the rules handle regular bonus discs. | Posted: | | | | If this bonus disc is only/mainly about the last season, then it is not to be profiled. Packaging is not a deciding factor!
If the Bonus Features were actually about the entire preceding series, it could be discussed... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | First of all, I like the rules as they are. We profile discs that cover multiple movie, but not the bonus discs for a single movie. It's served us well so far.
Now on to your M*A*S*H example. Since this is a separately purchased product, I would say we should absolutely profile it. I've profiled plenty of discs that are neither movies or TV shows. How else could you ever track that purchase if you don't add a profile for it. You would loose too much valuable information.
But I had to vote Depends. Because your poll question seems to be an all or nothing question. And I don't think we should say we profile all bonus disc or we profile no bonus discs. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Why do people think that civility is not required on the internet? Once more a discussion here turns into petty sniping. I won't be back to this thread. Not worth my time. | | | Last edited: by johnd |

It's purchased separately, but I understand it's the final episode, plus the Bonus Features, is it not? If so, then the episode must get profiled, of course, but the Bonus Disc should not get it's own profile. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. I don't think it was purchased separately, but I could be reading it wrong. The set I found online is a 3-disc set. 1 disc for the final episode and 2 discs for bonus features. From Dan's description it sounds like there is a case for the one episode and a case for the bonus discs. Since it is a single episode, I don't think we should profile the bonus discs. It is no different than a single movie bonus disc. I am on my way to Best Buy, since it is Tuesday, and I will double check to be sure. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
