Greetings all.  There was supposed to be a collector's edition of Lawrence of Arabia released on May 8.  I don't think it was released.  Amazon says unavailable, buy.com has a release date of 1/1/2037 (I don't want to wait that long), and I there's nothing at Best Buy or Circuit City.  Any one have any info on this or know the reason for the delay?

(FWIW, I bought 3.0 earlier this week after using 2.whatever for a long time.  As the risk of sounding like I'm sucking up, what a fantastic piece of software this is.  It's been 4 or 5 days, and I already fell like I've received my money's worth.  Of course, my family hasn't seen me ...)

Okay, so maybe I wasn't imagining it. I thought it was supposed to be released last week as well.

I notice that DVD Empire just says "Coming Soon" now.

Well this IS the FOURTH release of Lawrence on DVD, so I have no doubt that stores were highly motivated to add it to their inventory.....NOT.

Well, it's funny that it originally was supposed to be out in March, then slipped to May, and now no place has a street date on it. Sounds like a studio/distributor problem, I think.

Why do another standard DVD transfer? I'm hoping they release it in Blu-ray or HD-DVD and give it the proper treatment and transfer.

Because still most people use standard DVD. And like me, some aren't rich enough to waste money on HD and BR.

Bridge on the River Kwai was also supposed to be released but has seemingly disappeared.  I was looking forward to that one as I haven't bought any of the previous releases.

The dvdlist at Home Theater Info shows the following status for the films mentioned above as of 05/15/07:

Bridge on the River Kwai  -  Postponed
Lawrence of Arabia          -  Postponed
Guns of Navarone            -  Out
Caine Mutiny                    -  Out

There's no indication why Bridge & Lawrence were postponed, though.

Actually I have only ONE copy of Lawrence, Terry. I haven't seen any additional value to the other three.
