| Posted: | | | | Hello Everyone, once again I come to the folks here for suggestions. I am in need of a storage unit for for all my dvd's. Right now I am at about 700 and growing. I have already had to remove them from the hard cases and now have them in the soft paper sleeves. I am looking for something black or wood color that holds the soft sleeves and in a way that I could put them in alphabetical order and flip through them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried Ikea and some local office supply stores and Nada!!! |

Two quick tips if you do this (learned the hard way of course):
1) buy LOTS of them when you find the books you like because finding them again later is a NIGHTMARE if even possible and you really want them to match. if I were in your shoes, I would find a nice 200 disc book and get a dozen of them. you can find some real nice looking ones with hard metal, wood or even leather-bound cases
2) leave LOTS of space between letters so re-sorting isn't too bad. If you get a dozen books, make 2 letters per book (scrunch up on O-P-Q and X-Y-Z to even out the 26 letters to 24 "half-books"
I personally like the cases but I do something similar to tip #2 each time I re-organize. I got 100 blank cases on ebay for about $20 including shipping and at the start and end of the shelving and in-between each letter I stick 3 empties to fill in later and then re-organize every 6 months or so the same way. I'm up to 860 right now.
If you don't want to do the books I would probably start building something from scratch, look here for some really cool stuff: http://www.woodworkershardware.com you even get a 10% new customer discount on your first order
good luck! | | | Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 |

| Posted: | | | | I remember seeing something like what your looking for it was either on Overstock.com or Pier One. You might want to check them out. | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. |

| Posted: | | | | I recently (about 2 weeks ago) emptied my shelves of all but my absolute favorite DVDs and placed them in these. I have two of these (which hold 510 each) for my movies, and a CaseLogic case which holds 400 discs for the kids' movies. This has saved a ton of space in my house as now all the DVD cases are in boxes in the garage. I use my the 'Location' and 'Slot' field in DVDP to keep track of where the discs are in each case (as each sleeve is numbered). And I use my Location Report (available here) when I need a hard copy. | | | Last edited: by Erin |

You could try something like the case in the link http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1157Having recently moved, I had to reduce the amount of space my collection took up, originally I brought two 1000 disc cases but soon found I need a third (I forgot about all those bonus discs and tv bot-sets). I wish I found my third case first as I think the black vinyl effect looks alot better the the aluminium. |
