Hi peoples,

I've done what searching I can on the subject but have been unable to find much of use, so sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

I'm facing the problem that I have the same disc twice in my collection, but in different boxed sets. Specifically, the "Back to the Future" DVD I own as part of my "3 Disc Trilogy Boxset" edition is the same as the copy in the "4 Disc Collector's Edition". When I go to add the copy to the 4 disc version, then naturally DVD Profiler complains that the disc already exists. And if I remove the older version then I'll of course have the wrong cover artwork for that child disc within the box set.

I faced a similar problem when I "upgraded" from my "flippy disc" version of "El Mariachi/Desperado", to the full non-flippy box set of "El Mariachi/Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico". But I eventually just gave away my flippy copy, locked my remaing profile, and got around things that way.

I guess I could try and do something similar with Back to the Future, but I also face the problem this time that I'm trying to submit a correct and complete profile for the 4 disc edition, and this is not possible without overwriting the existing Disc ID profile (or making up a fake bar code, which I know is a no-no.)

So, what advice can people give?

Cheers,

Michael

As you cannot have an item twice in your collection your only chance will be to use a Manual profile for one of the two sets.

A Manual profile is created by doing "Add by Title" and unchecking the "Download profile from Invelos" check box.

Would it make sense to use the disc ID as UPC for one of the profiles?
DVD -> Change UPC -> Use disc ID from inserted disc

If both box sets are using the exact same disc IDs then you can just move the disc IDs into the boxset you are trying to submit correct and complete profile for the 4 disc edition, by taking them out of the box set they are currently in.  Then submit the corrected profile, then if you want them in the other box set just move them back to the other box set.  That should allow you to make the corrected contribution.

Like Ya_shin says the only thing you can do currently for keeping box set contents in your local DB twice is to create manual profiles for one of your existing box set.
