Hi there,

should the Redux in Apocalypse Now Redux be treated as part of the title, or is it an Edition?
In my opinion it is an Edition, but before contributing a correction, I'd like to read your opinions...

This is from the contribution rules;

Modified Titles: The Original Title field will contain the original theatrical title, while the Title field will contain the title of the DVD release.  For instance, for the Special Edition rerelease of There's Something About Mary:
Title: There's Something More About Mary
Original Title: There's Something About Mary

It should be part of the title

But the Production Year should be 1979

Enter the year of the original theatrical release. For films that have been updated (e.g., a Special Edition or Directors Cut) use the year of the original release, not the year that the re-release was “made” or released.

Apocalypse Now Redux received a THEATRICAL release as Apocalypse Now Redux long before it went to DVD. Simple answer.

Don't we still handle these using the modified title rule, like we did with the first Star Wars release?

The original title still remains "Apocalypse Now" after the movie has been relaunched theatrically under "Apocalypse Now Redux". I would put "Apocalypse Now Redux" into the title field and "Apocalypse Now" into the original title field.

EDIT: And the production year is of course still 1979.

No,, Movie with the extra 49 minutes was produced for the screen in 2001, ( none of the footage was seen before 1979, it should be production year 2001, for Apocalypse Now Redux.
( isn't Redux , French for Redo or Redone ? )
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

It wasn't seen back then, but it was (mostly) filmed in 1979. We also keep the original production year for the updated Star Wars films, even there we are sure additional material was created much later.

You could interpret it as a fancy word for Director's Cut

You COULD interpret it as such, BUT the title is Redux, not redo, redone or Director's Cut.
