| Posted: | | | | I've received a number of No votes for my YoB addition to Richard Harris. The reasons have been quoted as there aren't any other actors with the same name only an Editor and therefore, because DVD Profiler doesn't cross-link between cast & crew, they don't need to be distinguished. So should we be distinguishing between cast & crew or not? IMO At some point I'm sure the cross-linking is likely to appear so it seems sensible to add it now. BTW. There are 3 other actors listed on IMDB as Richard Harris (link provided with my contribution) so I shouldn't be getting No votes anyway. | | | Stuart | | | Last edited: by Gadgeteer |

| Posted: | | | | Crew people do have appearance credits in films so, why not. My only other comment is that I would not rely soley on IMDb as my data source unless there was no ther altenatives I coiuld locate.

| Posted: | | | | If you check the credits (on IMDB) of the other 3 actors called Richard Harris you will see that they only have 1 actor credit each, and none of the movies they appear in are available on DVD. Therefore it is not necessary to add YoB to the actor Richard Harris in the database, as he should be the only actor there with that name. | | | Last edited: by Behemot |

The same goes for "credited as". In a contribution I submitted a couple of days ago for the title "Dead and Deader" a couple of the crew also had credited roles in the cast. I used credited as and found that they do not link to eachother. I had to withdraw my contribution, remove the credited as entries and resubmit. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

Why did you "had to withdraw" your contribution? Was there anything against the rules? I see no point of having two common names for one person, even though those names appear in different database tables. |

| Posted: | | | | This brings up the cases where actors who have directed TV series episodes or feature films. In the Mama's Family Season 1 Harvey Korman directed several episodes, but he wasn't listed in the Crew Database, so I had to enter him.
It would have been nice to have linked the actor to his directing credits, or perhaps there is and I don't know how to do that. |

I just wanted to say that the reason I voted no was because the other Richard Harris is an editor, and very unlikely to appear as an actor in the near future, and because there's no cross-linking between actors an crew, there's no need to distinguish between them. As I understand it, the only reason you need to add YOB at the moment is if you have a direct conflict in your database you need to resolve. |

(Just thought I'd throw that example in!) |
