I would like to share my DVD database with multiple computers on a home network.  Is it possible to create a central database that is accessible by each computer on the network?

Thanks!

Yes, just select File->Open Database, New Database, and select a shared network location.  Be aware the program will be slower over a network.

I agree With you FunkyLA. I have seen a signficant Slow down in the network version over 2.5. Very Sad. Becuase I like to watch a DVD and play in Profiler to cross reference actors and such.

But Ken has done a Wonderful job with this version and I sure that Improvments will come

Do you have to install the program on each computer you want to use the database with?
IOW how do you view it?
Does that means with each addition you have to update the remote database?

Network performance is slow, particularly with big collections. But it does work.

Yes, you do have to install the program on each computer. However....

I have tried running the program directly on the server using VNC. This fixes the performance problems, and works quite well. The only big downside is that the DVD drive it uses is on the server, not the local machine.

Still hoping for a 'portable application': all data and programs below one directory - no registry-keys - starts from every usb-stick on every computer. My DVDs together with dvdprofiler - where ever I am.
