I have been playing with this for about an hour, but couldn't get this to work...

I would like to edit a skin, so that the Cast & Crew Listings look like what we see when doing the voting.

Frankie Jay Allison [Frankie Allison]

I found how to show either the Name OR the Credited As, but not both together...

Anyone figured this out yet?

Yes!  Use the header variables that Ken added.  Both names appear there, so you can use/edit them as you please.  the only problem is that they won't be clickable in that form.  I've started a thread asking to have the URL link information aded to the functions involved, but no reply yet.

If you haven't used the headers yet, here's how to use it:

In the editor, under all the normal Insert Profile HTML Tag, you'll see a new one called HEADER_VARS.  Add it to your skin, preview, then right click/view source and see what it added.  Lots of goodies.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

I want to be able to see both names when previewing an updated profile (so actually I'll be editing RHo's layout...). The regular skin tags only have an either/or function right now, it seems. Loosing the clickability ios not an issue (as it's just the preview, but having the colors would have been great, whcih I guess will get lost too...

The header separates all the name portions, first, middle, last, credited as, etc., so all you have to do is color code it yourself.  Very simple the way it's laid out for you.

Well, I have tried the method with the header variables (thanks again to Mithirandir for his big help). It works great to build up the Cast & Crew lists, BUT, when using as a preview for updates, the changes are not indicated

I really feel it is needed to see both names (Common and Credited As) when updating profiles, so that I have control over the changes that are being made to my database.

Example:
I looked at the update for Kill Bill 2 yesterday:
Local
Q: Original Characters by
U: Original Characters by
Online
Q: Original Characters by
U: Original Characters by
But still a difference was indicated. That was of course, because the layout shows the Credited As name, which was Q=Q and U=U locally and Quentin Tarantino=Q and Uma Thurman=U online. But I had no way to tell, what was hidden behind the Q and U (and seeing the difference between the colored Q and U on the left and the black on the right wasn't easy either). For all I knew, somebody could have entered Robert De Niro=Q and Pam Grier=U; not that that would have gotten past the Voters, but you catch my drift...

Anyway, to protect my local linking I need to see both.

EDIT:
I want to add:
I tried using the DP_CastDiffer (or so) to indicate Cast changes, but to no avail so far. Also, that would be more tedious to go through, while the current system highlights individual changed names.

If someone knows how to make the Header variables to work for Preview use, I'd still highly appreciate it!

However, ideally, the <DP Name=...> variables (not sure I got that quite right) will be able to show both names together, like in the voting screens (Common Name [Credited As]).
