| Posted: | | | | I use DVD Profiler on both my home and work computers. The easiest way I've found to keep the data in sync between these two computers is to upload my collection from one computer, then download it to the other computer.
I did a major amount of work on my collection this past weekend, and successfully uploaded it last night.
This morning I downloaded it to my work computer. All was well. But of course none of the new images downloaded (since they're not stored in my online collection), so I did a "Refresh all images".
The progress bar appeared and it fairly quickly moved through the "Scanning Images" phase. But when the progress bar got to the end of this phase, it just hung there. Twenty minutes later, it was still sitting there. The "Overall" progress bar never moved.
I clicked "Cancel" and tried it again. Same thing.
Then I tried "Refresh updated profiles from Invelos". Again, the same thing happened.
Any idea what's happening? Is it actually still processing the scans and am I just not waiting long enough? I have about 890 titles in my collection. I'm running the latest update to DVD Profiler (3.0.1).
UPDATE: I can selected each title one-at-a-time and update it manually. That works fine. But with 890 titles, it's not an option! | | | Last edited: by drewincanada |

| Posted: | | | | your contributions here you can follow the progress of your contributed profiles. approved = accepted, released = in the online DB | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Thx. Unfortunately, that's not the issue. Yes, I've contributed quite a few profiles, but 99.9% of them have already been approved and released. Only 3 have not yet been approved/released, and they are for minor changes to the profile, not to images.
Besides, that's not a reason for the program to hang while "scanning images".
Another thing I've noticed: if I do a "Refresh Online Profile List", it doesn't seem to catch all updated profiles. For example, once I've done this refresh, it tells me that my profile for "For Your Consideration" is up to date. The little disc-shaped "Update" icon is greyed out for this title. Yet there's no image visible in my display for this title. I have to go to the Online menu and select "Refresh DVD from Invelos", and then it downloads the image.
In case you suspect it's happening with profiles that I've submitted myself (and which aren't released yet), it's not. It's happening with profiles from others, which I've NEVER altered or contributed to.
What's up? Anyone? | | | Last edited: by drewincanada |

| Posted: | | | | when you check your online collection you notice several contributions without covers. In my opinion these are not yet in the online database. you could verify this by looking at your list with the column open last edited anything before march 14 as date is not in the online present. Maybe this is causing a problem. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Hmmm. Are you saying that the "online database" only goes to March 14th? Why the lag? What happens to more recent contributions that are approved and released? How do I download an accurate, up-to-the-minute profile list, so that I can update my collection with all the newest "released" profiles?
Here's what I've been doing this morning:
I compared my current online collection to the local one that I downloaded this morning from my online collection.
A few examples: yesterday at home I added "Flags of our Fathers" and "Hollywoodland" to my collection. The images loaded correctly. Then I uploaded my collection.
When you look at my online collection, those two profiles are complete with images.
Yet after I downloaded my online collection to my office computer, neither of those profiles had images, and it said that there were no new updates to those profiles. As I mentioned, I Refreshed the Online Profile List. Still no updates to these two. (I assume from what you're saying that it's because the Online Profile List is about 2 weeks behind!)
I had to go to the "Online" menu and click "Update DVD from Invelos", and then it updates the images.
There were quite a few profiles like these two. I tried to update them via the "Refresh Updated Profiles" but that didn't work. It just hung.
So how do I keep my collection up to date, if not via the Online Profile List? |

| Posted: | | | | the database has not a lag. The db is rebuild from scratch from the 14 march 2007. New company, new database. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | OK. So does anyone know why the program is hanging when trying to update all my profiles? |

| Posted: | | | | I think I found the problem. It's a corrupt profile in my database.
I was going through my profiles, updating them one at a time, and when I tried to select "Bonnie & Clyde" (release date May 18, 1999), the program started freaking out. It bounced around, selecting the most recent profile in my collection instead, then spinning its wheels, then selecting a totally different profile that was two away from Bonnie and Clyde in my collection list.
I think this profile must be corrupt in my database, because DVD Profiler won't let me select it, flag it, or do anything with it. Therefore, I can't delete it.
I think it must be this profile that's causing the hang-up when I try to update all profiles/images.
With no way to delete this profile, I think I'll go back to my "home" database, do a backup to a portable drive, and restore it here at work. Seems like the only solution. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Ken! It worked. But it also deleted 4 profiles from my collection and I'm not sure which ones.
As someone suggested in another thread, I'm doing a backup of my database on my laptop and then I'll do a restore on the office computer where I have the corrupt data. |

| Posted: | | | | Try looking for your lost profiles in the "wish List" section. This problem happened to me as well last week and the repair database function moved 4 proflies from my "owned" section into the "wish list" section. All the proflies had the letter H as the first letter of the title (Hostage, House of sand and fog...) |
