For some reason I cannot contribute this profile to the online database:

36 Quai des Orfèvres - Locality France - UPC 3333297904642 (taken from DVD cover)

When trying to contribute I get the error message:
Quote:
DVD Profiler is unable to validate the UPC. Please verify the UPC and ensure you have entered the entire code.
(Which I have.)

When transferring my database from IVS to Invelos, the old UPC was converted to 4333297904642 - even though this is incorrect.

There are now 2 different profiles for this DVD in the online database, both with incorrect UPCs. The incorrect UPCs are: 4333297904642 and 3333297904643 (you can see on the back cover image for both these profiles that the actual UPC is 3333297904642).

Any way to deal with this so that the proper UPC is entered into the database?

I don't know what to do with this problem... I have the same problem with Nosferatu. (US Region 1)

In my case the UPC never never converted at all... was one of the ones I had to fix by hand. I am sure of the UPC... and sure that it is legitimate... as I got the disc from deepdiscountdvd long ago.

But in my case there is no listing at all for my DVD... only thing in the database (last I checked) was the special edition of the movie... and the one I have is the bare bones edition.

The reason is because it is an illegal EAN... it may well be what's on the cover but it is actually malformed.

The last digit is a 'parity check' digit, created by a mathematical formula from the first 12, and if the first 12 are 333329790464 then the correct check digit is a 3.

Sorry, I have no idea what can be done if manufacturers create illegal EANs ... I suspect you'll have to use Disc ID
